You guys may already know this brake piston removal trick but I was well impressed with how well it works (approx. 4 minutes in to this video)! I stripped the rear brake calliper on my Triumph Daytona T595 today and the pistons were both seized. I managed to remove them with this socket trick, which was so easy and saved me needing to buy a special tool. The pistons are pitted so a new seal kit and pistons are now needed to finish the job.

Having just struggled like mad removing the pistons from a set of ZZR tokicos, I am seriously impressed with that!

I rode my 1998 Triumph Daytona on the road for the first time in 5+ years today. She is running like a dream but alas, the trip was to get a new MOT and she failed! 😭 Who knew that my new higher handlebars gently nudging the fairing on full lock is a MOT failure? Clearly I didn’t 🙄

Got some rgv calipers with stuck pistons, gonna have to try this 😎 Don't know what's wrong with using a pair of Stilsons myself. Every bike I've ever owned seemed to have had the pistons taken out with Stillys (and put back in I should add). My removal kit was about £30.00 and I've used the slide hammer part for other jobs as well. Saying that it did fail on the LC because the largest adapter was just not quite big enough and they'd been in for 30+ years. Those ones needed a length of 50x6 flat bar welded to them and a lot of brute force.

I took the Daytona out yesterday and got snapped by the bikerpics people. Not sure I like the photo enough to pay nearly £10 for it though! 🤔

Recently had the choke plungers from my Z650 re seated buy zed1015, an excellent, quick service that I would highly recommend. Also replaced the inlet rubbers as the originals were split. OEB

Took delivery of some new carbs for the Laverda. All the way from the US of A. Purists will choke on their Chianti/Peroni but at least it will run a lot better. Just need to remove one from the end (Millyard style)and sort some inlet adapters (and fuel lines and cable fittings and airbox connections) As if I have nothing else to do John

Steve Got them from Dynoman Performance based in Austin Texas. My go to Laverda guy was unable to source these in UK and suggested I try the States. The guy in Florida didn’t have these model in stock. They are set up for Honda 750/900/1100 but with minimal work will go on the triple. I will trade the extra carb for all the other bits needed to make them fit plus a session on the dyno to dial everything in. I have been struggling to get the old Dellortos to run correctly for ages including a full rebuild but I think they are just worn out. These souls do the trick. 😉 John

Well two days running actually, 90 miles into the running in process, 530 to go, chilly 6 degrees, and my fingers were about to drop off.
Rain here for the weekend and beyond.

Changed the oil and filter on my Street Triple 765RS. Got to work out how to reset the service light, as need to install some software on my phone and connect via Bluetooth through a special dongle. Got to do air filter too once it stops raining.

I pushed it out of the garage, so that I could get the YPVS out. I rode the Yam to a classic vehicle meeting, had a little run over the moor, and came home for lunch. Then I pushed the four stroke back into the garage.
