The account verification is usually triggered at some point and needs done to stop money laundering
Its just a simple small deposit into your account and you verify how much it was
I had it a few years ago and that was even with PayPal
They held the money till it was verified

It only happens on that first transaction(under these new payment terms) , after that, any sale payments are released direct to your bank/chosen account the following day...It confused the hell out of my at first but it is straightforward enough, look under the FAQ payment section.

I was sent 2 payments of 2p and 31p I think and I had to verify the amounts from my account.
Ebay is now favouring the tossers now, problem is, where do you go for all the stuff that you can buy on eb?

Hi All EBay is now so greedy as the fee is on the item and post plus from new year your international fee doubles too from 1.5% to 3% I had a sight glass listed on eBay for £11 that a guy in Oz wanted and eBay want £18 to ship by their global shipping program so in the end we made contact outside of the system and in the end he bought 2 and were sent as a £5 large letter due to the saving 👍 For my 3d bits I still list my items at a slightly higher cost inflated just to get them advertised on a platform and do get a odd “eBay” sale but to be honest nearly all my recent sales are on the FB forums and other bike forums like this I know FB can be full of BS opinions but for me it’s good tool to get your bits out there and once you get going most people will pay via family and friends so your sale avoids any fees or you can add just 3% to your cost so the buyer is covered under pp rules Also if you are on FB it an easy way to make contact thru eBay enquiries as you just add a pic of your FB profile to your reply to get round the contact detail block. and then usually then the buyer then contacts me via FB messenger. simples and so much easier and pain free Had a nice run of custom horn cover recently that started with 1 enquiry then other people chipped in with requests for other colours like shown below other than the standard black one, and the run still going an I have shifted about 20 all thru FB chat and the buyers leaving nice comments and recommends that other pick up on So like I said Fb is a place full of bs and odd opinions but for me it’s a positive place and like everything it’s how you chose to use it I may sometimes make an opinion but is never a personal snipe or name call but normally a generally comment about something in life. And strange sometimes it develops into a nice one to one open discussion with two people have different opinions but also respectful and accepting of each other opinions too and everyone is entitled to their own opinions Best wishes to you all Al

I have just reluctantly re booted my ebay selling account and preferred paypal as I use that account as the spare dosh account to buy goodies with Now it's paid into my bank account after a few days bullshit wait ,it just gets lost in there
Just sold a CD to USA
CD was £49.99 Postage £9,00 sales tax added £4.72
Buyer has paid total of £63.71
I have paid £9.31 fees and I have received a payment of £49.68
So don't know how that compares

....Then less your actual postage, so you net about £35 from the sale? Its always peed me off that ebay takes a fee on postage as they quote it using the country carrier's site. That means you go backwards on the post before you start if you dont add an extra fee to that postage... which Im sure cruels your sale potential as people think (and sometimes leave feeback) that you charge too much for the postage. This new thing where they charge you fees on the tax collected due to the buyers location where the buyer is is fast becoming the last straw for me. How can you charge a fee on a local tax? surely thats not legal... sigh. Ive started to not want to sell abroad. Eg. if i sell to a UK person i get charged more fees on the sale than i do locally so lose money compared to a local sale. This is due to the 20% vat which i get fees applied on, then the post cost is more and they slam me for fees for that ...and of course the post is added to the sale price so is also locally taxed (with the fees) as well. If Auspost says something costs $50 to send, the buyer is charged 20% on that, ie pays $60. I pay fees of 12% of the $60 'sale price', my $50 postage quote still costs me $50... and yet I only receive the $50 less the fees for it, ie $44. How is that fair on the seller? (I do know why ebay added fees on post, it was from an era where trader sellers who did a lot of items would make the item almost nothing to pay little in sales fees and the post high to make up the difference as there were no fees on that, it was a loophole) But its unfair to the normal people selling off stuff in their attic. Further deathknells are that the post now takes ages (fewer planes in and out of Aus than there was pre covid) and people expect things to arrive almost the next day*, then the buyer moans the label is '2/3rds' what they paid in post since it doesnt include the insurance in that price label and of course I had to add a fee to not go backwards on it. * - especially when selling to the usa as they seem to like to 'overnight' things. While this thread isnt about post i will moan on about it (fee free to move on at this point lol) ...you guys who live in the UK and moan about RoyalMail dont understand what a rubbish postal service really is. I can send a letter even pre covid within my own city that would take a week or more to arrive. There is no real next day service here even in metro areas, in fact some posties only deliver on days that suit them it seems, not every day. Even our 'express post' is not actually faster when the postie doesnt come to your post box daily. Of course with covid all bets are off, sending something that goes via the local parcel hub can mean weeks and weeks of waiting. A forumer sent me a box from the other side of Aus 6 or 7 weeks back. It took mere days to fly across this vast land but then a whole calendar month waiting on a pallet to be sorted in the mail center only 20 mins from my house. Only multiple complaint forms got it found and moving... If i sent an item out as an ebay sale, would the local person be happy about that or have already asked for a refund? Let alone some one abroad who assumed as a foreigner I must be iffy and for sure stole from them. Anyway, Ive found its pointless to upset people so Ive all but given up on international ebay sales now. If anyone sees something they want on my ebay then contact me directly here, dont buy it there - lets not make ebay any richer.

RE the eBay postage thing...a few times I've had to send stuff back that I bought on that cursed site and it tells me to print the postage label. I know if I do that it'll cost me so I just write one out and use that instead. There are drawbacks. You cannot then tell the seller you have posted it (unless by a PM) and then spend ages asking for a refund as I've sent the damn thing back 2 weeks ago and they deny having received it. I also once had my account frozen when I sold a load of RD bits. Bloke from Swindon bought them, drove over and checked every single item on his list. Once satisfied he took the lot back home. I left A1 feedback, then 3 days later he says none of the parts are any good and I must come to Swindon to collect them. Not going to happen. Thats when he launches an eBay appeal and my account was frozen, they even tried to take £400 from my bank account but swift work from NatWest stopped that happening. Anyway, I won the appeal and all seemed well again until he starts saying he's coming back with his mates for his money. And he left appalling feedback that thankfully eBay agreed to remove. Turns out he was (not now lol) on the A/C forum and he's done this kind of thing before...but he returns his scrap and keeps the good stuff he buys. He got caught out when someone marked some barrels with an infra red pen and sent them to him. Needless to say the stuff returned had no such markings and was basically pig iron.
You have to tread very carefully on that site.
