This has to be the best 'delivery' (term used loosely) story really. It even has an action shot of the lady accepting the tyre etc.
As an aside, my post lady always asks 'whats in the parcel?'. Im usually cryptic with my answer. Pretty hard with the tyre tho... maybe Id say it was liquorice?
We are off to kip here in Aus, interested to hear the update on you sleuthing this tyre down in the morning. Have you tried Dog the Bounty Hunter yet? He might have some ideas?

I ordered a book the other week and when I came home from work Royal Mail had put a note through my letterbox saying it's in the conservatory. I don't have a conservatory. Did a bit of searching and found nothing, then asked my neighbour (they have one) if it might be there. It was. However to gain access to this conservatory the postie had to climb up on something to get his hand to the back of next doors garden door, unlock it, then walk across the back garden to leave the parcel there. Both my neighbour and myself were pretty angry about this. To her it felt like invasion of privacy. To me I was just gobsmacked. The idiotic thing is, the book would have gone through my letterbox.

Alex I would report this to both post office and local police. Sounds like someone has been casing the joint, classic. "I was trying to deliver a parcel"......Yeah right............

I sent another message via eBay asking if they had anymore information from the courier. There is a company calle Caribou involved but they might be just the company that provide the tracking information. When I put the tracking number into the box on their web site it says it's already delivered as well. I left a message explaining the story. We'll see if anything comes of that.
There was a photograph associated with the failed delivery on the Friday. We had a chuckle at that. You could see a bit of blue sky and cloud and a bit of brickwork but about 90% was just white and blurred like someone had their finger over the lense.
To be continued.......

I (for one) await with baited breath for an update...
For many years I worked for a large postal organisation on tracking systems. Its incredible to me how in the last 20 years we went from almost no system but a pretty decent service to a system that tracks multiple ways (barcode, photo, gps) and yet the human element has sadly often become lazy and useless.

Asked eBay to step in now. My patience has ran out. I want to be fair to the seller. He wasn't driving the van so it's the courier who has lost it but two weeks is the end of the line.

I hear ya Steve. I was enjoying the posts on TyreGate, but it wasnt as much fun for you of course.
Buck stops with the seller on this, they sent it. The contract with the postal organisation is with the sender as they paid for the post. You cannot claim or even talk to the postal about it really as its nothing to do with you, you are only the receiver etc.
As far as ebay is concerned its the sellers job to work out where it is or refund you.

I wasn't getting stressed about it at all really, in fact if it wasn't for the fact that a) I still need a tyre, b) I have no idea how long Ebay and or the seller decides it has actually been delivered and c) it's £100 then I'd just keep annoying them with increasing more sarcastic messages and get a little bit of satisfaction out of it. I sent Ebay the message last night and got this reply this morning: Hi Stephen, (my Sunday/in trouble name ) Unfortunately, we didn't receive valid tracking information from the seller. We're sorry you had a problem with your purchase. The refund includes the purchase price plus original postage. A refund of £97.95 will be credited to your original payment method. It may take 3 to 5 working days for the refund to be completed. ...............and this one: Hi Stephen, Thank you for contacting eBay Customer Support. My name is Aimee and it’s my pleasure to assist you regarding your recent transaction. I understand you still have not received the item MOTORCYCLE TYRE (163810936504) and you have been waiting patiently. Rest assured that you are covered with eBay money back protection and I am here to sort your refund. After careful investigation on the matter, I found out that the tracking number (Caribou- CARGB0005231058YQ) provided by the seller is invalid. Since we do not want you to wait any longer, I'm glad to let you know that I have closed the case in your favour with a full refund to be refunded within 24 to 48 hours to your account. I understand you were eagerly waiting for the item, however, being a platform, the best that we can do is protect your refund as we do not have the possession of the item. I'm optimistic that you would be able to find a similar item on site with the refund amount. I trust the action taken is to your satisfaction. To summarize it, the case is now closed in your favour and you do not need to do anything else from here. Congratulations again in winning the case. Thank you for being a valuable member of eBay and I wish you all the best in your future transactions. Kind Regards, Aimee eBay Customer Support If the money comes back OK then they are quite efficient. I like to think from every issue you can learn something. Maybe from this I have learnt to have stuff delivered to work. Our boss issued a statement when this Covid 19 thing happened saying we weren't allowed to have personal deliveries here. Obviously it never applied to him as he was having stuff delivered for himself all through the pandemic. Maybe we weren't supposed to know or maybe his stuff wasn't the kind of stuff that can transmit viruses?

God damm it! What a pain in the ass.
FYI, Bridgestone wholesale UK prices have gone up for Nov, so might be the time to get some BT46s before they up the prices, if you're thinking about it.

I was just thinking (yes I know ) Somewhere in the Country (or maybe the World) that poor woman is having to squeeze past that tyre to get to the toilet or washroom or keeps tripping over it behind the counter and cursing. All the time thinking I wish this to$$er would come and collect this bl@@dy tyre! How long before it goes in a skip? If they don't know where it is how can they collect it? If you can work out where it is from the clues there's a free tyre for you

about 2 weeks to question 1, and for question 2 it will just go back from the lady into the system as return to sender at that point. Seller should get it back then... or have to pick it up from some other random place etc.
All that depends on if the seller is genuine and really did send it and is not just using an old pic of the lady from another sale to scam a hundred quid (less fees) from ebayers... hmm...

I feel like the seller is genuine. I actually feel a bit sorry for them. I just think the couriers, or maybe just one person who works for them, has done this although the message to deliver it to a shop must have come from the seller.
I just don't how long after it was apparently delivered it would be just declared finished and I would lose the chance to claim my cash back. A few years ago I bought something, waited a while before I examined it and by that time I had lost any chance of returning it and there was no recourse.
The thing is the seller pays a courier to deliver their goods and if they have enough feedback from buyers telling them the couriers are useless they should get rid of them and go elsewhere. That's how these thing should work. It's like Darwins theory, the rubbish companies should go out of business.
My mates place have between 150 and 300 package collections a day. They go with two or three companies. That's a lot of deliveries. He has had to change companies after having issues with them and he would do it again if he had to.
These days it's all about customer feedback. A few bad ratings and your business is in a downward spiral if you're not very careful.

Now that is a pretty bad feedback score 1.2! They must have worked hard to be that bad . I like their standard reply: "Thanks for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear you had a problem with your delivery. We are currently implementing new processes to better the service we provide". (everyone is having a good old fashioned flogging).. made that bit up Yep, did that. Looked at the feedback after ordering. In fact after the problems started. My mate says he never hits back at complaints, it achieves nothing. I've seen socket sets people have returned saying a socket was missing and he just sends them another or gives them their money back. It's just not worth challenging even the blatant con merchants and liars. The bad feedback would cost more than the goods. Add in the time to do it and he just lets it go. On the plus side my lad who works for him gets some nice free stuff as most of the items just sit in a box in a corner until my mate gets sick of seeing them and then he gets asked if he wants to take them home. Anyone want a socket set with a missing 10mm?
