I wasn't sure whether to put this in the joke section or here. I just thought I'd share this for amusement. So I ordered a new front tyre on Sunday 10th October off Ebay. Delivery was for my address and was supposed to be Tuesday or Wednesday. Not bothered because I don't know when I'll get time to fit it. checked in the letter box each day as you do and no card.
On Saturday I logged onto Ebay and the tracking says they attempted delivery on the Friday afternoon. It says it's now back at the depot in Leeds about (70miles away). I contacted the seller and asked them why they never left a card and said that they could leave it around the back of the house and also that usually couriers leave parcels with neighbours. He said he would pass the message on.
Every night when I arrive home I go around the back of the house and look for the tyre, nothing. Look in the letterbox, nothing.
Yesterday the tracking information says the package is delivered. There is still no sign of it or card in the letterbox so I visit the bungalow opposite, where packages usually go and the two housed either side again nothing.
I then send the seller another message this time getting a bit blunter "where is my tyre?" "why no card?" etc, etc. I get a reply saying they didn't leave a card because it has been "delivered to the shop as requested."
My reply was basically "who mentioned a shop? I never used the word shop. There are no shops or pubs in the village and only twenty houses. There are approximately 306,985 shops in the UK. Can you contact the clowns who "delivered" the tyre and ask them which shop they left it at? Presuming it is in the UK."
A chimp pushing a wheelbarrow and holding a map of the East Riding of Yorkshire with my house circled could have delivered it by now.
To be continued...........

It's not DPD by any chance is it? They are worse than useless in our area.

It's not DPD but I can't remember who it is at the moment. I'll gladly name and shame them soon! I did ask in one of my increasingly sarcastic emails what type of courier don't put a card through the door? Answer: one you shouldn't use anymore. I've just rang the nearest shop to me. No good. Just 306,984 to go.

Sounds like the delivery company uses "carrier" pigeons. Maybe some maple peas and aniseed seeds scattered on your doorstep will ensure a delivery. I think it's down to who the actual person is, that's doing the delivery as to whether it goes tits up or not. I have been fortunate to have only good dealings with hermes, dpd, and others, and found them to be pleasant and courteous. There was one delivery that was left outside the garage behind my van for two days that I hadn't seen (delivery person could not find the front gate to the property ..and there is a hedge in the garden that separates driveway from front garden!!!... delivery person must of been a bit stupid!) But this parcel was seen by the DPD driver, and informed me that it was there!!!

I have: A shop licensed to sell alcohol. Sells National Lottery tickets Sells Logic E cigs. A blond married woman works there (you can see her ring 🤔. They have a Great Ormond St. charity box. The National Lottery have just 37,000 outlets in the UK so it's practically narrowed down to a tenth of the original odds now.

At least you don't have to ask in each shop
Just pop in the door and compare the counter to the picture 🤣

Surely they can tell from their tracking information and time of delivery exactly where it was delivered to. I can do exactly that with our fleet at work.

I asked for a POD on a parcel that was marked as delivered
Luckily there was a GPS stamp on it so I could see exactly where the van had been parked when it dropped it off...
...in the next street 🙄

I ordered 3 from Demon Tweeks on the 4th Oct, they were 'in stock' when ordering. Heard nothing, so emailed them on the 14th asking what the craic was and was told they're out of stock, won't be getting delivery until the 1st of November... MAYBE... and if I'd like to wait. What a farce, they weren't so slow at taking my £160.

They turned up and were 4 years old so I messaged them creating a fuss, they said tough they are good to sell and perfectly legal I gave up and took them to my local bike shop to fit Shop refused as front had cracks in the side wall that I hadn't noticed (they were manky) They wouldn't refund automatically. I had to wait till they sent them to Pirelli, they had examined it, declared it damaged due to poor storage and refunded them before they refunded me It took 2 months, I was raging Steve

There are too many Steve's for sure 😀.
I'm hoping they can narrow down the number of shops it could be in to maybe one.
Our house is called The Old Post Office. Apparently that's the most common house name in England. We have had post for The Old Post Office but it was a village about ten miles from here. Everything about the address apart from the house name was wrong including my name and isn't wasn't a Steve 😀

Sounds like there is a bit of a tyre shortage about. I'm tempted to start the eBay missing parcel thing but I don't want to give up on this one yet.
My mate at work has downloaded a list of all the National Lottery outlets and has been looking at all of them in this area. Can't have enough real work to do.
Hopefully the seller will be able to tell me where it is and it won't be an hour's drive away from here.

On some corners it seems to drop suddenly like the front end has slid but I think it's the shape of the tyre. Like when the rear follows raised lines but this is the front. I don't think I'll be riding it much more until the new tyre is fitted.

Not confidence inspiring

What a nightmare Steve!
Love the pic tho, did they not record the GPS data for it with the pic? if so that would narrow it down. they should have: tracking number + pic + GPS location = delivered!
I had the most useless delivery service here mis-deliver me a parcel. It was only coming 20mins drive across the city. But..... After 4(!) weeks of lies of me being out (I wasnt) they delivered it to 'my nearest approved location'. I looked that up on their site and it was a Shell petrol station about 700m from me. Cool. Went there and there was much head scratching, not least as they didnt ever receive/hold parcels from this company.
After more phone calls they told me where it was; A newsagents shop 3 burbs over. WTAF?! They listed about 10 closer locations for their 'affiliates' to my house. So it was obvious the delivery guy never came near my actual house.
I went to the shop and he had all the parcels just laying there under the mags and comics on a shelf. anyone could have made off with them. Its not like anyone receives anything super valuable in the mail is it?! sigh! The old giffer in the shop did helpfully go and rifle through the boxes to find mine, but i could have done it myself since it was in the customer side of the shop.
FWIW I had never been to this burb, never even knew they had shops... so I learnt something I guess. Saw there was an Indian restaurant there, so a month later i ordered food but it was average at best. Thats why we had never heard of these shops i guess lol

Saw there was an Indian restaurant there, so a month later i ordered food but it was average at best. Thats why we had never heard of these shops i guess lol There seems to be an infinite number of terrible delivery stories out there. My mate ordered a new phone but the company said they couldn't deliver it to his company address for "security reasons" I think they said. His his company BTW. They insisted it had to go to his home address. Like the majority of people he spends between eight and twelve hours a day at work so the house is empty most of the day. He came home one day to find an expensive new phone in the middle of his back garden on the lawn so they must have thrown it over the fence. This same guy does a lot of Amazon and Ebay business so has collections and deliveries everyday. They've had loads of courier issues and more than one driver has been found out and sacked, not for just losing stuff but actually keeping stuff and selling it. They accept a small percentage of missing items but when that suddenly increases investigations start. Another mate found his missing parcel in the blue wheelie bin (that's a trash can on wheels where you put your re-cyclable paper and card for non UK residents) which was outside his garden fence waiting for collection. He had been asking where his delivery was since the courier had claimed it had been left in "his safe place." He had never given them a safe place. I'm not having anything in my "safe place" Latest news on mine is the seller has asked for a name/address of the shop. I asked him to find out and stated again that at no point did I mention a shop and that I would collect as long as it was within a reasonable distance.

That mystery lady looks like my Mrs but I quizzed her and she's denying it . She very rarely sorts me out. I suspected a couple of guys here at work were smuggling it under their shirts but all I got was threats of being reported to HR. Good job we don't actually have a HR department. Someone suggested the blue counter looks like a Costcutter but after some research it doesn't appear that Costcutter have a "colour" unlike Asda green and Tesco blue and white.

I did actually ring my local dealer where I bough the back one from first but no one answered the phone.
