Hiya folks,I've got a 350 ypvs 31k motor and its giving me a headache, standard carbs and bores with muttsnuts midrange pipes, pilots are 22.5 ,bike will only start from cold with choke on and a little bit of throttle! Ticks over nice once warmed up and the revs hang a bit when I blip the throttle ,once the motors hot it won't start ,won't even fire, any advice/pointers? Thanks

have you checked to see if you have a spark when hot ? has this just started ? have you done any work recently to the bike ? what petrol you using and how old is it ?

Thanks for the reply, bikes got a great spark when hot,its not cutting out,im turning the ignition off, petrol is super unleaded from BP,its a bike I've been working on for a while now,I've tried 2 different sets of carbs, both exactly the same because of the tank position im running a low psi fuel pump and a regulator thats producing 1.5psi at the carbs

Is it worth trying to see what itβs like without the tank just connect up fuel pipe to a bottle of some sort , to eliminate any problem with fuel delivery from the pump setup?

Try next size up in pilots .....had a mx bike years ago exactly the same, bit of a bugger not starting after falling off in a race, was advised to fit next size pilot jet, and it was fine after that.

Leaking petrol tap , fuel valves not sealing and flooding ? Puddy:) It looks like petrol could be leaking past the needles/seats causing the motor to flood, will know better when I try to start it again, lashing down outside at the mo!

Puddy:) It looks like petrol could be leaking past the needles/seats causing the motor to flood, will know better when I try to start it again, lashing down outside at the mo! Be worse when starting from cold I would have thought, more time for the fuel to pass and flood the motor, but it starts from cold ok.

I had exactly the same problem on my 250E. Genuine Mikuni carb parts cured it.

Bit of an update, fitted the 25 pilots and fired it up,still needs a bit of throttle to start, even on full choke, definitely sounds better, let it run for five minutes and turned it off, tried to start it and fired up with a bit of throttle,so I think I'm going in the right direction? Going to check the plugs,im thinking that if the petrol is getting past the needles/seats they will be soaking wet? Thanks for all sugestions/ help so far

How many turns the airscrew out? If its too lean, then its time for a leak testπ

Fires up in about 2 kicks every couple of weeks or longer. Has Aspen in the tank Course she's good, it was put together by a thoroughly decent chap. buck, have you had the "balls out" of the carbs? If you're taking carbs off, it might be worth while doing it.

V similar symptoms to yours , took carbs off so many times, changed cdi, rectifier, new reeds, gaskets. Would start when cold , there after wouldn't fire. Put correct flywheel on and starts first kick, hot or cold
