Is this correct?...no gasket between the thermostat and cylinder head...seems not quite right to me... answers on a postcard please lol

The thermostat has a rubber seal around it which seals the joint 😁

The seal is part of the thermostat
I've never had to replace one

I’ve never had to replace one either…although I have removed a few 😂 I have removed the seal as the 50 degree snow mobile stat comes without the ring so you have to pinch it from a 71 stat Steve

you can buy the seal separately if you need one, sometimes they are missing (who knows why, its the 35year old junk parts lots i buy i guess) or the alloy has oxidised and the seal looks all pitted, new ones are not silly money.

Identical seals to those fitted to SAAB thermostats. Could be others as well. But I have familiarity with Saab bits.. is all.
