First time ever ☹
Sold some bits on ebay that ended on Sunday night
All fine other than a pair of 350lc wheels
Not a dickie bird from the buyer.
Sent an invoice after a day and messaged enquiring about payment a few hours ago
Now I know people are busy, or forgetful or a lot of illness around so don't want to just open a dispute
In saying that there are lots on here who have had probs and I never have so maybe my turn 🤔

Give them to the weekend, that’s a reasonable amount of time.

Quite a number of people say 'payment within 2 days'. Given the messaging you've done I'd wait until tomorrow pm in case they're a shift-worker & re-list, or maybe offer to next highest bidder?

www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/payment-policies/unpaid-item-policy?id=4271Members must pay for the items they win or commit to buy on eBay within 4 calendar days. Sellers don't need to open unpaid item cases any longer. Instead, orders can be cancelled if a buyer hasn't paid within 4 calendar days. If you still have open unpaid item cases, you have 36 days from the date they were opened to close them. If you don't close them within 36 days, we'll close them for you, but you won't be eligible for a final value fee credit and the unpaid item won't be recorded on the buyer's account. What is the policy? When a member wins an item, or uses Buy It Now to purchase an item, they must complete the purchase by sending full payment to the seller. Buyers must note: The cost of postage and handling, and all terms that the seller has included in the listing before deciding to purchase Bids can only be retracted under exceptional circumstances A seller may cancel an unpaid order if the buyer doesn't pay or contact them within 4 calendar days. Failure to pay for items is a violation of our abusive buyer policy. All unpaid items are recorded on a buyer's account. Buyers who have excessive unpaid items, or cancelled transactions, may have limits imposed, or lose their buying privileges. Managing unpaid items Sellers may cancel an unpaid order if a buyer hasn't paid within 4 calendar days Sellers may be eligible to receive fee credits according to our fee credits policy Sellers should avoid falsely cancelling orders when the buyer has paid, or they may: Have all credits reversed for the time period in question Lose the ability to use the fee credit system Be subject to suspension eBay will automatically remove feedback left by a buyer who didn't pay for an item. Feedback may be removed when: The seller cancels the order due to the buyer's failure to pay The buyer is suspended Activity that doesn't follow eBay policy could result in a range of actions including for example: administratively ending or cancelling listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering seller rating, buying or selling restrictions, and account suspension. All fees paid or payable in relation to listings or accounts on which we take any action will not be refunded or otherwise credited to your account. Why does eBay have this policy? This policy ensures buyers follow our guidelines on purchasing items in order to protect sellers and maintain a fair and safe marketplace.

Just had the same thing happen to me. It seems this new policy means you have no way of leaving negative feedback on a non-paying buyers profile.

I had this several times, people dont take the concept of entering into a contract seriously on ebay. And ebay doesnt really care that much it seems. I had one guy who won an item, then said he "couldnt come to see it for 2 weeks to make sure it was right and that he wouldnt have enough money to pay for it until then anyway"

I had an auction for a Porsche Boxster that ended last Saturday, the 11th. Winning bidder got in touch about two hours after the auction end to say he was working away and couldn't collect it until the 28th but could send a deposit. Hard to understand why they can't send a message before bidding to ask if collecting over two weeks later would be ok.

One guy in Canada won some CDs and then said 'would i wait for 2 weeks until he was paid as he didnt expect to win when he bid'. I did wait and then he said he had an unexpected bill and could i wait another 2 weeks? I neg'd him and relisted. sigh.

Hard to understand why they can't send a message before bidding to ask if collecting over two weeks later would be ok. Yep had this as well. People follow the Gen Norman Swarzkopf approach that its better to ask forgiveness than permission. Thats pretty disrespectful really. What if you needed it gone cos you were losing the space or needed the cash for the next car which was at the dealer? They dont care about you, just that it works for them. Ask him to send you the whole amount by bank tx and tell him you'll put his car on the road near the house, or does he want to organise to have it collected....? The one that gets me is those who win an item that is listed as 'pick up only' and then ask if you could help them out by posting it. Er, no. If I was prepared to do that I could have got more money for it. I obviously dont want the hassle do i?! I sold an early RD fuel tank on ebay last week. Listing was very clear it was pick up only. Top of listing description it said in big letters 'read the whole description, posting info below', then lower down it said i would wrap it for a fee (bubble wrap and tape isnt free even if i my time locating boxes and doing the work is) and the winner could send their own courier to get it. Something I felt was pretty generous as we are in lock down for another 4 weeks (6+ when listed) and this is a huge country and it is always good if there is a possibility the seller will work with you as a buyer if you do want something from distance. I said very clearly in there that i would much rather hold on to it until end of lock down and have a guy come a get it locally. Ive found its good to be clear, so long as they read it. hmm... The tank sold. Guy is 1000km away. I ask if a friend will come get it? he says no but could i help him out and send it? I ask him if he read the whole ad? He says 'no'... Sigh. To be fair he was apologetic and he has sorted a courier now ive wrapped it (locating a tank sized box during lockdown wasnt my idea of fun). But geez it isnt that hard to read a few paragraphs is it?
