Kempton autojumble today. Went with my mate Mouse from here, thinking I would just pick up some nuts and bolts to replenish my stock. Never normally much of interest at Kempton, but we did see a dealer selling a modded Gsxr1100G which looked interesting. £1800 price tag was way out of my reach. We picked a few holes, price came down to 1500, picked a few more and we ended up at £1100, including a spare set of Gixxer clocks ! It's an import but registered on a Uk "C" plate, is a runner but plainly needs some tlc. Already been looking at ebay at parts prices and they are significantly cheaper than Lc prices ! Gonna do some cosmetic work and clean some parts up which will have no cost implications, but it is a future project that will have work done as and when time and money allows. Thanks to Mouse for pushing it back to the van - my back was bad today - and my missus for being so understanding of my need for a project bike !! 20210911_172036 by dusty miller, on Flickr 20210911_171710 by dusty miller, on Flickr Dusty

Cheers mate - not what I expected but stroker prices are waaaay out of my reach now. Had a couple of Slabbies some years back and they are awesome bikes. Built a "streetfighter" out of a perfectly nice, standard "G" - should have left it standard !! It was so long ago my daughters feet wouldn't reach the floor !! Cheers Veg, that's very kind thanks mate. I'm hoping to refurb the brakes that are on it, as they are Harrison Billet 4 pots on the front and a Beringer on the rear. The front end is the first area I am gonna attack !! Dusty

From memory the only problem parts are the rear swing arm bushes and bearings think they are NLA as genuine. Regret selling my last one which I sold on here a std 750 20k miles for £2200? Crazy prices for a very iconic bike. 👍

Hi Steve, Yea, I know what you mean. When I think my YSS shocks on the 400 cost half that entire bike, or only 400 quid more than my Allspeeds, or half the cost of my 400 engine etc etc The funny thing was we didn't have to try too hard to get him down on price. Went from 1800, to 1700, then he definitely needed 1500 out of it. We went away, and came back and he then needed 1300 out of it, then we got to 12, and Mouse encouraged me to offer 11, with the standard clocks thrown in, and he accepted !! He had 4 bikes on sale including an AP50 which sounded sweet and was in ok condition, but he wanted 1750 for that, so I think the slabbie was a good deal. Been stood in a collection for some years in Mitcham, Surrey, but is a runner, but will need a tune up and thorough service before it goes anywhere. Dusty

Cheers Tim, I will check them out. Hey Alex, exhaust has a lot of work in it but I prefer a lower mounted pipe. I think the 4 into 2 part is probably a known make, and then the link pipe and end can are custom made; 20210911_171848 by dusty miller, on Flickr Indicators are going in the bin and the subframe will be remade Dusty

Me, Dopey (wife) and Tosser (best mate) were at Kempton today as its only a 10 min walk from me, i thought most of the stuff this time was overpriced tat , didnt see your GSXR, i looked at the TS185ER but it needed too much doing.
nice looking project, always liked them and a great price too.

I like underseat exhausts but I hate an awkward link pipe run which spoils them

It really was a 'no brainer' at that price and i know that should you choose to, you can turn it into something great!

Just seen this in the flesh and for the money I'd say it was the bargain of the year. The exhaust (though it may not be kept) is a real work of art and all in ally, even the headers. Lots of tacky bling as you may well imagine but that's what bins are for lol. The tank is mint, the brakes are worth buying the bike for alone. I love it, even though it has no rear light Alex
