This was all my friend Andrews work. Was just going in for paint and then Coovid came and plans changer. She rides perfect now apparently after the shakedown tests. Cant wait to get her home...... Original auction price was very reasonable and it was all there just about made it a good candidate for a resto

You have such nice friends its a long time coming but does look really nice. 15 years ago I got hold of a 1/2 decent running UK RD500 for £1400 and stripped it to build a YZR500 for the road, I got nearly finished, upside down forks, 3xv swinger and Nikkon race pipes with lowers swept to the side, looked stunning, I purchased the 1990 YZR500 Wayne Rainey body kit and fitted ready for the Marlboro race paint, at that point I put up for sale my 2003 Z1000 in orange, the bloke who came to buy it noticed the RD and kept offering sums of money until I accepted. It sold for £3800. Now look at the prices £20K in the uk!!! Doh.

A brief update the bike will stay in Cali for a few things as Andrew will be away for a while. On his return just 2 things need doing. The seat cover although in good original condition looks bad compared to the rest of the bike so that will be recovered. Also the front master brake cylinder although not leaking will be replaced with a NOS one sourced in Japan in an abundance of caution, when thoose things are complete I will have her shipped to me. Thanks for all your kind words and enthusiastic responses to the project. Just hope it was a source of interest and maybe even inspiration to help get other projects complete. I know Andrews work has re motivated me to get my projects on the go again.....

Just was looking through your restoration of the RD500.i have one a friend and I rode in a WERA 6hr race at Pocono back in 1985.John Kocinski was on a prototype GSXR750 out of Canada. Unfortunately my good friend has passed away and I’ve his 2 Yamahas, a 350 and a 500 which is in need of a good going over. I may have to keep in touch with you regarding parts and help. regards, mac morgan hockessin de. abarth1202@icloud.com
