Bottom end stripped, Cranks and Mains checked out good. All parts ordered, he suggested Stage 1 Carb kit and Hi Flow filter as RZ's run a little too rich standard and this would lean it out a bit for crisper throttle response. Also a performance reed set which should also help over the standard metal ones.

Wheels were next. We decided not to powder coat these as there was no exact match for the original OEM Gold. Lots of prep followed by paint brought them out really nice....

He managed to salvage the rear disc and after painting and resurfacing came out real nice. Both front rotors came out as good as this as well....

Only just read this, looking to be a great resto, keep the pics coming too, great for reference as well, if someone needs a few hints etc. True about the wheel colour, I had some powdercoated and the colour was way off original, even saw the powder beforehand, still look good though. Did you strip all the old paint around the filler cap etc before primer?

Plenty of us are enjoying ALL of the pics you posted. I mean, Geez who messages someone and says their posts are boring FFS?!

Who the f**k would message you and tell you that you are posting too many pics ?? Unbelievable !! That's part of what makes this forum so great - the fact you have taken the time and effort to document your build in such great detail, both for our enjoyment and for reference for anyone wishing to follow suit. The vast majority of guys will thank you for such an in depth thread - we can all benefit from threads like this. You are doing an awesome job of a comprehensive build on an iconic Yamaha stroker - just what we need - so keep loading as many pics as you can and please the majority, not the one knob 'ed who is obviously consumed with envy and jealousy !! Brilliant build Dusty

OK Thanks for all the positive comments. I,ve benefitted from threads like this before and thought I would just pass this on in case this helps or encourages anybody else. The one negative feedback I had during a conversation was about why show every bit thats been painted LOL! I had a few red wines by then and probably took it the wrong way. My bad. Anyway, my mates been really busy so more progress to report........... Also big milestone engine is in!!

Brilliant build Dusty I'm so with Dusty on this. Just ignore any negative comments and PM's Trent- you restoration is fantastic, post as many pictures as you can. Really enjoying all the detail in this thread, super work so far.
When I built the three cylinder LC, I had messages telling me it was not how Yamaha intended the bike to be, and it will never work! I've had the same thing with the 4 cylinder LC as well as telling me I'm repeating the 3 cylinder bike with just an extra cylinder!!
