What's the best way to apply the above to the crank cases ? Artist brush or clean finger (oil/grease will affect its performance)

I also use an artist's paint brush, i shortened the bristles down to make it a bit more easier to apply the sealant. Ive had it for many years, after use clean it with a wire brush and degreaser/brake cleaner. Its much more accurate than using my fat fingers.

Use sparingly as most of it just gets displaced. I use my finger with a surgical glove on.

I've been recently bead blasting some 4L0 cases and removing the original sealant that Yamaha applied in the 1980's. It looks like Stevie Wonder worked for them then and applied it with a 2" brush. There are runs going 75mm down the inside and outside of the cases.
I've not looked closely at any LC cases for a few years but the casting on these seems very rough to what I remember. I'm not going to attempt to do anything with them, just an observation. Maybe the moulds were getting tired by then?
The last time I applied any 3 Bond was about ten years ago on my R1 cases and it was all dry before I got back to the beginning and finished but sealed OK. I guess the tube will be no good now.

Anyone tried Loktite 518 anerobic sealant on cases?? Easier to source than the Yama/3 bond.. these days. No cheaper though.

Use it all the time on my KTM dirt bike cases as the area around the oil filters is prone to leaking and 518 cures that. At first I started using it just around the oil filters but now I use it everywhere. For real problem cases Permatex “the right stuff” is pricey but another step up.
