Hi Guys and Gals, I'm currently removing the fairing brackets from my RD350R to convert it to a naked model (yep, another one). I've never used a grinder before and I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I've managed to cut the brackets off without any issues but now i'm grinding the weld stubs down to the frame tubing and i think its more luck than judgement that I havent taken a chunk out of my frame yet!!! I was thinking of leaving a mm or 2 of weld on the tube as I dont want to risk removing too much metal, and hope the powder coat will hide it. Is it just a case of remove as much as you dare with the grinder then use files/sandpaper to remove the rest. Here's what I left with at the mo. 3CBEE28A-15EF-42BC-B6F3-647E895FF601 by James Smith, on Flickr 8EC574C7-9F42-40F3-89DC-6FD507011E63 by James Smith, on Flickr 18D6B3C6-FE71-4625-8C81-FA8E833E7D5F by James Smith, on Flickr The frame scratches are from sandpaper trying to tidy it up! Any advice would be muchly appreciated. Cheers, Jim

if you can manage a gentle touch with the grinder that's great but if not then the file is safer..

Thanks for all your advice guys. I really appreciate it. I think if I get a couple of files and flap wheels I’ll be sorted. 👍

This is defo my tool of choice when working on a radius as if you are working mid position the belt distorts around the surface radius.

This is defo my tool of choice when working on a radius as if you are working mid position the belt distorts around the surface radius. Ive had a few of these over the years. Superb tools and my go to for this work too. PS. I could have been a little apprehensive clicking on a thread that preported to tell me about your first experience on Grinder... but im good with whatever choices people make so i clicked.
