I decided after alot of thought to upgrade the engine in my Canadian import 350lc. I like the power delivery of the original motor and have chosen the athena route to hopefully replicate the original character with just more oommpphh. I have almost everything I need to complete the build. Parts list : +4mm hotrods crank 68mm Athena barrels Cool head with correct domes Wiseco blaster pistons Lockup clutch cover Upgraded water impeller High flow fuel tap Mitaka clutch basket One piece carb manifold 35mm pwk airstriker carbs Vape flywheel stator Ignitech ignition I have assembled the bottom end pistons/barrels And that's as far as I've got so far. I have lost abit of motivation lately so thought I'd post it up on here to get my head back into it hopefully. The bike will remain standard regarding chassis, suspension for now depending how safe it feels 😂

Yep, Arrow does an uprated pump for the 421 and Ive fitted that to mine.
The LC swinger is really short, lean forwards when the powerband comes in on the new engine lol

The clutch cover I bought doesn't allow for the oil pump to be used so its premix only I'm afraid not to big a deal for me.
Exhaust wise I'm going to get some via dave/mutts he has a couple to try before I buy just need to get it down to him once everything's complete.
I do like the look of them Mark dent ones that he has on his website developed for the 421 but not sure if he's making them anymore I have tried emailing him but no reply.

Mine were done by the supplier (Wicked), its the one area where Athena skimped as the rest of the cylinder is lovely.
I did do my own case port matching, I took quite a bit off of mine compared to yours.

A little update on this project 🙂 I have decided to change the running gear on the bike. I've gone for a rgv 250 m banana arm. Cbr 400 nc9 wheels. I'm yet to decide on the forks has anyone fitted ohlins from aprilia tuono successfully ? The tuonos have a nice top yoke that I think will look awesome with the built it clamps. I have been busy getting the swingarm fitted, i trimmed it down at the pivot point to 200mm to fit in the frame. I have got the rear wheel aligned with the front using the string line method. I've popped the engine in to align the sprockets and it's looking like the carrier or hub is going to need 6mm maching off. I'll hopefully get the rear sprocket tomorrow so i will get a more accurate reading. The wheel came with a 160 tyre on and is definitely too wide so it's looking like a 140 to clear the chain. I'd bought a tyga caliper bracket and ducati caliper but on fitment the back of the caliper hits the hub, it needs extending by 10 mm or so which is pain. All looking promising up to now there's not many out there that I can find with nc29 wheels, I think they look the business 😀

Love those Honda wheels, I have a set I want to use. The issue is depending on the model's wheels you get is the axle sizes. Mine (CBR600 front, CBR250RR rear) are exactly the wrong way round for the RGV forks/swinger sizes which is annoying as bearing swaps will not fix the issue it seems. I assume yours are a better fit

Hi Jon these wheels both have 20mm axle's/bearings which is good, how come yours cannot be made to fit with a bearing swap? That is a pain ain't it. I know some of the forks I've been looking at have a 25mm front axle. I've checked and can get the bearings to suit for the front wheel to convert it to a 25mm axle. Is there something else I should be taking into account? Cheers Rob

I have a set of RGV wheels as well, for the hassle i just figured id use the honda wheels on something else lol

A little more progress on this build. The swingarm has been modified using nk racings brackets which I had welded on locally. I ended up getting a nice set of gsxr 600 l1 forks for the front end these were fairly simple to fit with a spacer under the bottom taper bearing and a couple of washers on top under the nut. Spindle diameter on these are 22mm original wheel bearings are 20 42 12 so swapped them out for 22 42 12. The disc spacing worked out perfect for the calipers, standard discs have a 17mm offset the hub width is 100mm giving 134mm out to out on the discs. Only downside is that the original gsxr discs are 310mm the nc29 has 296mm. There are only 2 bikes that have the 310mm discs and correct offset and bolt spacing etc Which are vfr rc30 and cb1000 big one both of which are expensive to buy so I didn't want to get some and them not fit. I ended up buying a second front wheel complete with discs and spindle for £26 which was a bonus as discs are good condition although the wheel is slightly buckled. This means the disc has 7mm less surface area on the pads, I may purchase some correct ones in the future now that I know it all works but will be running these for now. I stripped the paint off the wheels and have decided to leave them bare/polished i used mothers mag/aluminium polish which will give them abit of protection although not much so will have to keep on top of them. I went with bridgestone battlax s21 tyres 120 front 150 rear. With the tyga rear caliper bracket not fitting properly I ordered some 10mm aluminium and made another one using a jigsaw to cut the rough shape and then filed and sanded it to shape. The frame is at the powdercoaters Swingarm, rear caliper bracket and lc sidecover are getting black cerakote and should have them back at the beginning of the week. Should have it back rolling at the end of the week 👍

Wheels look great, I'm a bit slow so tell me what they are again please :-)
I have KR1S wheels but the rear is 18 inch and 140/60/18 size and getting a rare tyre now and a lot of manufacturers stopped making that size
