I have a yambits side stand and have had no problem with it so far. Never heard anything about them snapping. The problem is there are guys on here whos yambits sidestands snapped within hours of fitting and the damage it causes to body work/ other bikes is so great is it worth it?

Shambits have a list of items to avoid:
Crank seals Throttle cables Side stands
Feel free to add more. Some of their stuff is OK but me and others will never again deal with them as their customer service is dire.

I had 1 of their kickstart levers for my little 200, the chrome came off in about 2 weeks and then the splines went on the cheese boss.
I had some points for the bike too, the contact point was loose causing lose of connection intermittently, that fault was hard to find, I won't buy from them again.

I purchased a YamBits side stand, fitted it to the bike and put the bike on the side stand. I left it sitting on the stand for 20 minutes when I came back I notices that the bike was at a strange angle. I put the bike on the centre stand, and found that the throat which the side stand bolt fits through had started to fracture . I ended up taking the 30 minute old stand off, removed all the paint around the bolt hole mount to find a stress crack in the steel. In the end I decided to use the original Yam stand but cut the last 3 inches the stand off. Then cut the last 3 inches of the Yambits stand so I had a good foot made a sleeve to fit inside the tube and welded the thing up. I would NEVER trust or buy another Yambits side stand again and would rather spend the time and effort fixing an original Yamaha one.

Hi Paul, No, I didn't. I blame myself for being foolish enough to buy something from them that is safety critical ! First and last time ! Dusty

Dusty I think they need to know / be told, i got some wire products from them the other day and they were too short, emailed with photos, they said they had sold over 1200 without anyone saying otherwise, they agreed they were wrong and gave me my money back, now will they do anything about it, probably not in it was only a £3 item.

It was more hassle for me to get to the post office to be honest, but you are right, if they dont know then they cant do anything. But, I have read about others experiences, and the "we've sold loads with no problems" line seems to come up quite a bit, so I'm not sure how honest that statement is ? I have bought parts from them that are fine - aircooled clock dampers, side panel rubbers, battery box rubbers and other non critical parts, and they seem ok, but the aircooled ignition switch isn't right and doesn't mount as it should in the centre consol, so the key in the "off " position equals the Yamaha "on " position. Not the end of the world, but annoying that something so simple doesn't fit quite right. Dusty

I 've bought lots of bit off yambits, service from order to delivery is 2nd to none. Not had any problems to date and yes I have the crank shaft seals so will, when the time comes let you know either way when it comes to run it. I will say if you buying a part that is described as a Patten part or not a genuine yamaha part then you should not expect it be exactly the same. If you ar'nt happy with a part or it fails then please please tell them, if not then they can't do anything about it and then we up end buying the same parts and end up having the same problem and hearing complaints about them and it on here. The mention of the wiring being too short is a perfect example, if everyone before had told them about the problem instead of just getting on with it then they could have done something about it long ago. And no i dont work for them or have any connection to them. However having tried to buy from some other suppliers who never seem to have what they are advertising or getting back to me, then I will keep using them.

Well said. I have fully restored my 250 lc,DT 125 LC and DT 175 mx using 95% of all parts from yambits and the only problem that I had was the hole center's on a regulator where out my 2 mm which was an easy fix. I informed yambits and they apologised and gave me discount on my next order. I was a bit concerned when the side stand issue was mentioned as I have one ,but it seems ok.

I reported the crank seals years back (circa ~ 2012) when a customers engine had failed after 1 mile (I didn't fit the seals), when I got it apart, the crank seals where torn, on closer inspection they didn't have the teflon coating on them either, so would fail in no time, also the rubber was sub standard and too soft.
I spoke to David at Yambits and he was completely dis-interested and stated what Paul (Chippy) above said, they had sold 1000's with no issues, well I reported it and for a few years after that I was still getting engines in with crap crank seals in from yambits - yes all had failed with crank seal failure.
I am led to believe (but not checked or verified) that they have now changed the crank seals, but I think they list genuine ones on their site now as well - which says something in itself don't you think ?

Glad to hear you reported the faulty seals, even if we are talking nearly 10 years ago and great that you identified the problem. Obviously you should have got better feed back at the time but hopefully it made them look twice at what they had. At present they have one seal that's down as genuine but not yamaha as they would be made by an outside company anyway. But it certainly wouldn't put me off buying their parts as we are talking 9 years ago. But again I would suggest if someone has a problem tell them and the response you get and let us know.

I do see alot of bikes with stuff fitted from Yambits, some things are ok, others not so good, given I get most of my parts from the same suppliers they use, I know first hand how cheap some of the stuff is, and if I won't use it myself, then I don't fit or sell it to customers - but that's just me
