I've been building a 1983 31k and have a resto post on here, and need a bit of help.
I finally got to try start it today after many months of refurbishment. Tried kicking it and wouldn't start and seems I have no spark. Grrr.
-Full engine rebuild and carb clean etc. -I've fitted new NGK BR8ES resistor plugs (but tried a couple of other random plugs for a spark) -I've fitted NGK LZFH Non resistor plug caps -Checked resistance on alternator pick up (pulser) and checks ok -Checked the source coils resistance and checks ok -Tried 2 different ignition coils and neither result in a spark
My guess is a faulty CDI. Its fitted with a 29k-50 unit, which has signs that someone has tried to peel it open before. I also read on here that they are vulnerable.
Any other thoughts?
And the big ask.... does anyone have a working CDI they would be prepared to loan me for a few days to test if that's my problem?
many thanks, Shaun.

CDI is a known weak point on them Shaun, had several in over the last few months, all the same fault, replaced the CDI and all good in the world again

Bought a good one and engine is now running. Still got stuff to do to finish the build but seems to be heading in right direction.
