I went for a ride about a week ago and the bike (4L1 with a 370 conversion and Zeeltronic) ran beautifully. Came home, put the bike in the garage and this morning when I took it out it would not start, which it usually does second or third kick. Checked that the ignition was indeed on, the kill switch not on stop and the fuses. All good. Then pulled a plug and established that there was indeed no spark.
Electrics are a dark art as far as I’m concerned so suggestions as to what the problem might be gratefully received.

I had a similar issue the day after fitting new Banshee Coils to my 4L0, no spark!
I took the coils off, ruffed up the connections with wetndry and relocated the earth connections and, hey presto, the sparks are back.
Good luck 🤞

Just so you can eliminate the kill switch. Disconnect the black and white wire under the seat

Well, I disconnected the black and white wire and still nothing so I guess it’s not the kill switch. Also plugged in the Zeeltronic programmer and it showed no error codes. I’m at a loss...

Its not a dark art, think of it as plumbing but with smoke and not water. It's often something simple like a connection or broken wire... but its finding it. Dont be daunted, and use a schematic diagram and a multimeter and youtube and soon you will crack it...just dont be frightened when you peer into a mass of multicoloured wires!!! And if you've lost smoke out your wires, it can be replaced! 126309820_10221212480214863_6462445136302170104_n smoke by Ernest Stoppage, on Flickr

Have you checked the charge on your battery? Don’t zeels need a good battery for a spark

So, the good news is that I removed the Zeeltronic, plumbed the stock CDI back in and the spark is back! The bad news is that the thing still won’t start!

I’ll assume it’s timed up too? Even if out a bit you’d expect the occasional kick back or splutter. I’m guessing you don’t use the standard system as it wasn’t 100%?

OK you've got fuel, you have a spark and you have air, theoretically it should fire up assuming you have compression
A couple of common problems I have are
1 Carbies don't have fuel in the bowls or a float has stuck - an educated tap on the bowls usually cures the latter and opening up the drain screws ensures fuel is in the bowls
2 The plugs are wet and oily after many failed attempts to start the bike - I always remove the plugs and clean them up and ensure they are dry, 9/10 the thing will start

Plugged the Zeel back in today, just on the off chance and the bike started second kick! Went for a ride and, at the end, used the kill switch to stop. Tried to start again and same problem. Realised that I’d done the same thing the first time the problem appeared so I unplugged the power supply to the Zeel, plugged it back in and it fired straight up again.
I can only conclude that using the kill switch to stop the engine causes the problem, god only knows why. Will be using the key going forward!
