We booked the ferry today. Portsmouth to Santander. The VFR fan comes on a lot in England. It's going to be doing some hard work in Spain at the beginning of July. We’re riding to Spain, second week in July, via the Millau viaduct. If you’re still local we may see you 😎 My Mrs. was talking to someone who mentioned going over that bridge and then going on to somewhere on the coast near Perpignan, I can't remember the name, a trip they did a few years ago. That'll be something to see that viaduct for sure. She was only texting them on Saturday about it! We've done the Calais - Spain Route a couple of times. First time was on my proddy YPVS in 1986 and then on my LC/YPVS in 1989. First time down the N20 via Toulouse/Carcassonne/Narbonne to Lloret de Mar and the second time through Andorra. Some fantastic roads through Andorra. The Dover ferry/tunnel was the cheapest route and we are ten minutes from the North Sea Ferry in Hull but we fancied landing in Spain rather than the long trip down again. I have got 17 days off work though . We're heading towards Zaragoza and Teruel/Albarracin for no good reason other than it looks nice We haven't booked any accommodation yet but we probably will. We'll probably take a small tent just in case we get stuck. Basically a 'Wing It' trip All being well we'll be back in England by the 11th of July. I guess you'll be just setting off?

I have an ex Royal Marine Collegue who lives down near Teurel in Spain, he can probably offer assistance regarding accomodation and routes in the area.

I have an ex Royal Marine Collegue who lives down near Teurel in Spain, he can probably offer assistance regarding accomodation and routes in the area. Thanks for that. That's a nice offer, we'll bear that in mind. I've ordered some Michelin maps covering the areas we are looking at and we'll start thinking about where we want to go and to stay. There's a line to find between booking everything in advance then being restricted by it with no flexibility and booking nothing and struggling to get in places. Campsites are usually able to accommodate a small tent and a Motorbike. Not like the good old days where places like The Lake District didn't want to know anyone on a motorbike. Our experience is that the average Spanish person likes motorcycles and motorcyclist a lot more than the average British person. I had a conversation with waiter in Spain where he reeled off a list of British riders in the Grand Prix, he remembered at least as many as I could. The first trip we did there were six of us on three bikes and we booked nothing but the North Sea Ferry. We struggled to find anywhere on the way down but ended up in a nice apartment when we got to Spain. Maybe we should start a thread: I'm Planning a Trip To....?

The Millau Bridge is awesome, did it a few years ago. Take the route below to the Gorge Du Tarn, what a road, we headed South to Carcassone. Andy.
