Imagine that parked up in your garage Very hard to put them out when they are on fire, and with cars, the floor pan is often the place the batteries are fitted, so even harder to get to. Dusty

To be honest it looked a bit abused but looking into the future there’s going to be a lot of ev cars with old batteries etc so I think as ev usage grows and you to see more older vehicles about the risk of a fire like this is very real
Rather have a old petrol bike in my garage than one of these potential incendiary devices
Best wishes Al

Just need all the Tesla's to do that same thing now. First thing that entered my head as well. Has anybody ever given a thought as to what happens in an accident with a battery car? Has it been risk assessed? Do the Fire Brigade need to carry some other form of fire suppressant? I've seen what an ordinary car battery can do when shorted...WTF will a stack of them go like in a nasty prang. Survive the crash... then die in the explosion/inferno?

Dusty Battery's fitted to underside of vehicle can easily be damaged just from jacking one corner. Some vehicle's require Jack adapters before lifting . Before pulling electric car from ditch plod called trumpton before vehicle could be recovered.

the advice to garages if one goes up in the workshop is to evacuate the building let the fire brigade put it out as they can pump the quantity of water required if the battery start to overheat if its not controlled they self combust
in an accident recovery etc have to be very careful in case the orange covered high voltage is shorted to the vehicle body a shock from the high voltage will kill you 350v dc upwards now if you are in an EV. car that is in an accident you must get out with out touching the metal body work
