managed to dry fit some of the ace bits today. forks had to grind off a bit the steering lock so the forks could move right over to the left. i put the clip ons as test on top of the yokes but still not sure about these. engine its just chucked in via 2 bolts went in ok. exhaust not sure what to do here just yet weather to try and fit a aftermarket one like a black widow (thunderace) it might give a bit more clearance. as it hits the centre stand bracket easy to cut off i know, thinking more about the footpegs bolts

managed to get the old swing arm oi today without my abba stand swingarm removal kit as they are not instock. got some top hat sleeves from steve at lucky 7 motos managed to smash the old needle bearings out with lots of heat from my hot gun 2x TA2525Z next i have to find someone to machine the arm and centre spacer down 5 mm per side.

got a little bit done today. got the swingarm back which for me i had 5mm machined off each side + the spindle 5mm by using the top hat supplied by luckymoto7 the top hats add 3mm using this method i was able to use the dust caps on the end of the bearings still. fitted the new needles from bolton bearings next ground off the centre stand brackets so the linkage would fit the arm fitted perfectly and next i need to find a fzr 1000 exup shock as recommended David Houghton + sort out the linkage the ace arm is a shorter see photo below but i think it will be fine as from the centre of the bolts its only 15mm shorter.

done a bit more to the linkage today. added the spacers at the bottom of the frame i also had to change bush to fit the 12mm bolt which i just had one cut down from a rgv25o i had kicking around. added some top hats spacers to reduce the frame + added top bolt to a 10mm so far all pretty much the thunderace linkage.

Wow, what a fantastic build. Love this!
I assume the idea here is to get a faster FZ750 that handles and stops better and is a smaller bike? Im thinking that as the Thunderace frame is a more modern design and is probably stronger but is a big bike so the FZ while floppier is more fun?

Brilliant! The rear end looks fine to me, but like you say that exhaust needs elevating a bit.

Do you think the rear end is to high? The rear looks fine to me but I think the front is too low. If the plan is to have the fairing on it I'd get it loosely fitted for a better idea. Are you racing with Yogi for 'fastest build of the year' by any chance?

Cracking Job !!!
I love the FZ750. I had an 86 and it was one of the bikes that I always regretted selling.
Good luck with the build. I'll be following with interest

Sounds like the head gasket is blowing, which isn't good, hopefully it will just be a stuck thermostat, or similar
