It's three weeks today I lost my best friend Mojo, I know I will get over it but its not happening yet. I miss him from getting up to going to sleep, wife is as bad as me, I wouldn't have missed the last 12 years with him for all the world but its really hard to accept. Thanks for the memories, you were the loveliest creature. You have lost a part of your family, a part that was always glad to see you and never answered you back.
It will get better ...in time...but you will never forget either.

So sorry to hear this Andy , I know how you feel. It's really hard when their time comes - I dread it, but I would never be without my dogs, even though losing them breaks your heart. I'm sure you have so many happy memories RIP Mojo Dusty

Andy, so sorry to hear this, they are family. Dogs may not live long lives but by god they pack some living in, in that time. You and the misses take care .

Sorry to hear this , swore blind i would never get another dog when the last one died as it hurt too much. But, what you get back from them far out weighs the pain of losing them. Definitely part of the family who will be remembered fondly.

Think everyone has pretty much nailed it, they are with us for a relatively short time, but have a huge impact on our lives, its a terrible shame they go before us, i know im gonna hate it when the time comes to say goodbye to either of mine. Take comfort that the life he had, was full of love and affection.

You will be feeling pretty down just now but one thing I always think helps a little is to know that while Mojo had his time here, you have provided a happy life for him which I am sure he enjoyed.

So sad to hear of your loss. I had to take a short time off work back in 2013 due to the loss of a much loved four legged family member. Drastic, yes but I just couldn't function. It takes time.

Thanks everyone, I'm at one with his passing it was as quick and painless as I hope mine is when the time comes, he had a great innings for a chocolate lab and he was great even the night before, kind of thought I'd have through summer but more than anything its the massive hole its left for me thats the difficult bit, I've never connected with anything like I did with him, he went everywhere with me and I'm gutted. Needed to share it to move on I think, thanks for listening.

Andy I have 4 dogs soon to be 6, I’ve got cats and horses, 2 of which need to go to their ‘rainbow’ bridge soon. Animals are for me a connection that often I don’t make with humans, I love them all. They all have their own personality and I love that about them. Non judgmental, loving without recourse or issue, I’m sure that certainly those who have posted feel your pain. Every time I say goodbye it’s like a little part of me goes with them. Take care buddy. 👍

Sorry Andy, Had my boy, a Welsh Border Collie for 15.5 years before I lost him. Still grieve for him now occasionally. it's fine, just go with it and remember the great times together.
