Honest opinions please. I am getting to an age where dropped handlebars and clip-ons are tiring. As a test I have just inverted my Street Cup dropped handlebars to give me more of an upright position. The positioning is limited by cable and brake hose length but the riding position is now more upright. What do you think? I could get Renthal bars for a better angle but I would also need a new 22mm clamp, which costs more than the bars!

No need for opinions.... 10 mins riding the bike will answer question. I've always hated any bars that compromise comfort... flat bars were the most radical on a 400C for me. Converted a CBR1000 to handlebars, why they put very near drop bars on a huge unwieldy barge is beyond me... Usability outweighs looks for me, bling is bollox.

Thanks Steve 👍 The riding position is good but I need to try a longer journey when it’s not so bloomin cold! Also, a little piece of me thinks that the bars aren’t designed to be flipped but I am probably overthinking it. 🙄

I used to flip my ace bars over back in the day sometimes for a change. I would think they’ll be fine doing so. As others have said whatever you find comfortable regardless of look 👍🏻

I changed the micron ace bars on my Lc for some renthall low as one ride convinced me, we aren’t as supple as we used to be, combined with rear sets is not a great thing as you get older. Steve I had a cbr1000fm from memory they were attached to the top yoke and were reasonably high?

Steve I had a cbr1000fm from memory they were attached to the top yoke and were reasonably high? Thing is, its all relative, reasonably high for you is a hell of a stretch for me, and when you have to stretch out to reach the bars sat in the same seat position... my body is getting horizontal. Nothing worse than discomfort, it can and will put the blockers on any enjoyment. It would not be too difficult for manufactures to offer kits to alter riding positions, seat heights, bars, pegs, it aint rocket science. Any mod that allows you to still enjoy your lifetime obsession has got to be good for aging bodies. (The FK's bars were a one piece item that slid over the top of the fork tubes, still have the bike but now with renthal bars, a rothmans wht, blue, red, gold strip job.) Think about it..... Every car has a seat you can move forward/back up/down, and many have a steering wheel that moves up/down/forward/backward. And so many bikes are a no no to half the population for starters!! Luckily my Mrs is a "bit" taller than me, so her choice of 2 wheel transport isn't compromised like so many others is.

Sorry bud I’d forgotten you’re not as tall as myself 👍. I had the later non jelly mould cbr, yes I think I can remember the earlier one. I completely agree with you adjustable seat, bar and footrest ergonomics would be a good thing. My younger brother always has to change his footrests on his bikes as they are always too high for him (broken pelvis) I can no longer ride sports bikes so I’m limited to roadsters, and non of us are getting any younger. I’d be interested to know what the age demographics are for Uk riders, are enough youngsters buying bikes? Or do up and coming markets make up for the decline in the traditional markets?

Age demographics? Hahaha! Well the next time you are at a meet or a show (could be a while yet ) Just wait till folks start removing their helmets.. and count the ones with hair, grey hair, or bald.... Its why nakeds are so popular now?
