thank you , π but I don't consider myself a good builder ,not like some guys on here ,but I have ago π You're right Chris, you're not a good builder, you are a master builder and fabricator. There's much to be admired with your work, it's simply top draw. Glad you've got your Mojo back, I've struggled in the past Cheers, MarkΒ wow thanks mark , lovely comment πππ

Amazing isn't it Chris? German bikes had restrictors in the down tubes plus the laws there forbade any mods at all. My last LC came from there and the engine was spot on, just needed some Allspeeds to release the hidden ponies.

Never seen staggered flywheel balancing before. Iβm guessing initial material removal was on the right and they realised they needed more, but would cut into the pickup so moved it more outboard?

Yes the TUV is pretty harsh so only OEM and TUV approved mods on bikes means that many are never modded. Total opposite to most other places in the world with an LC of course

Alex hi Alex ,yes it is ,alough it's 40 years old it doesn't look if it's ever been messed with π

Such a bonus when you get an unmolested engine Great skills as always Chris. I missed the pics of the caliper bracket - it looks "factory" And the German bikes seem a better bet than some Uk ones - and to think they are often regarded as a lesser value bike ?? My 250lc that I got recently is a Swiss bike originally, and that seems to be in the same, unmolested state (hopefully) ! Cant wait to see this finished Dusty

I think the Swiss have similar rules Dusty.
Yes thats what i meant Chris, cos of all that TUV and other rules the bikes tend to be dealer serviced as well. It all means a less mangled and messed with machine... we all know what crimes we committed when maintaining bikes back in the day... and i dont just mean robbing the plugs out of your mates bikes lol

Good job on the strip down and what a lovely base to start with! I've had a mixed bag of German bikes. Some have been fine, others have been bodged from pillar to post! Most have over-tightened bolts, dodgy farings, super heavy exhausts and weirdo paint jobs All have worked out great in the end though.

The Swiss are worse than any country regarding mods. NONE are allowed at all. I'm amazed the LC was ever sold there.
One tale about the Swiss...one Sunday morning the British ambassador was telephoned and told he had to go out to his garden right now and vacuum it as it was too messy. Yep, he got his Hoover out. Incredible. But still an amazing country.

I got a JIS set from Vessel and also some impact driver bits for my ancient Talco driver. Both have been invaluable. The screwdrivers will sit horizontally by themselves on a vertical screw. On those rare screws that haven't been mullered anyway

Nice Project , the front wheel, did the goo take the coating off the wheel or was the goo put in the tyre because of the ali furring letting the tyre down .

Vessel Impacta is what everyone should have, size +2 I struggle using that one as an impact. Any tips? Not sure if it's the length of it, light weight or just technique. I just use the impact driver instead.

I use the Vessel impact bits to remove all the internal tricky screws and not have one round since using them!
