Hi Guys I am looking at the best way to store my bike in the garage do I use as front wheel chock or a rear paddock stand. It would not be for working on the bike just storage only.
What do people recommend and what makes? Many thanks

I've got both
The paddock stand is the most secure but on a standard LC there are no bobbins ☹
I have used a front paddock stand on the rear end of slimmer bikes
The wheel chocks are good but if you bump into the bike they move If not strapped on

That's a good suggestion if you have one. I just use the side stand as it's not really stored. Not sure about paddock stands as there are no bobbing on a standard swing arm, plus the stand will take more room up at the back of the bike.

I use front and rear paddock stands, however rear paddock stands are a problem with certain exhausts as they sit where the stand would go. When I work on them it’s on a proper bike lift with paddock stands and once exhausts are off I use a mx stand under the engine.

Be mindful, the skinny tyres on our RDs dont always get gripped that well by wheel chocks, which are designed for more modern, fatter tyres.
Seen a few bikes on their sides where someone has just relied on a wheelchock.

Very true, don't think it helps being so light either I tend to put it in the wheel chock then take a tie down strap between the handlebar clamp and tie it up to a roof joist to stop it wandering Steve

The paddock stand is great to do your chain maintenance, but for simple storage its hard to beat the front wheel over center 'chock' stand as is actually really stable. i.pinimg.com/originals/58/ce/0f/58ce0fb6691c49204dc6cefa87dc0e97.jpgI use one bolted to my bike lift and you dont need anything else to hold a bike upright. I dont even have to use straps if i dont want to, the bike remains planted upright. I guess if bolt one of these to the ground in the right place and roll bike onto it and you'd have instant 'one person' easy upright storage, its that simple. They can be used without bolting down but can move about when you roll on if 'loose'. Depends on how much room you have etc. I have two diff paddock stands as well, both work but are more fiddly so I never rarely use them. I also have center stands on most of my bikes so I already have a method of working on chains 'built in' but for bikes where i dont then a paddock stand is invaluable.

That's not the LC one, its for the earlier air cooled bikes.

Something that gets the weight off the tyres ideally. I'll have a centre stand where they fit, any day. Takes up less room too.
Saves having to pump them up all the time and flat spotting if you leave 'em for ages.

Got two of the over centre stands dyna bolted to the floor of the garage, my LC2 or the M900 have never fallen over, I've stood on the LC2 to kick start it and it still didn't fall As for rear paddock stands, I have one that instead of bobbin hooks it has aluminium angle covered in rubber that are adjustable in width to fit under the swingarm, works well on the 1250FA and Tracer GT

With the abba there’s various fittings so you can lift any bike there’s a list on their site, if yours isn’t there you can contact them and they will ask you the size of the swingarm bolt head and nut to get the correct adapter

Bloody useless with anything mildly heavy as its bolted together and moves about. Got a one piece one , no probs with that
