Hi All,
probably a familiar story, took the bike apart 20 years ago and have forgotten how some of it goes back together!
I rebuilt the engine completely and am a bit worried that I’ve misplaced a ball bearing for the clutch as now it’s back in the frame I can’t get the clutch lever to operate the clutch at all. Neither the Haynes manual or the workshop manual show a ball bearing on the cable/left side of the engine but both the end of the push rod and the end of the adjuster screw seem to be indented to accept a ball bearing. Could someone please confirm whether there is a ball this side of the clutch as well as the other as I can’t think of another reason why I’m not able to get any actuation at all.
thanks in advance - Malcolm

Hi Welcome to the forum. Lc engine I presume ? There is a ball bearing in the actuator arm on the left case on the aircooled and Lc bikes. It's sealed inside so you cant lose it. The pushrod should have a ball bearing at the clutch end. If it's a Pv, just one ball bearing at the clutch end. Dusty

Hi Dusty,
Thanks for the quick reply! Yes 4lo engine. That makes perfect sense and is a bit of a relief even though I’ve lost the ball bearing as the alternative is that I’ve messed up the clutch some other way. Annoying that neither Haynes nor the workshop manual show it though. Will have to see if Norbo stocks them. Thanks again!

Norbo may well have it. If not, the part number is 93505 16006. 30p from Fowlers, although they are showing as no stock -backorder . Dusty

Im sure that I read recently that there is a dimension for the push rop with the ball bearing fitted, so if your measures different, bingo!

pretty sure they are the same size as the ones out of a pushbike bottom bracket, 1/4 inch or thereabouts..

I’m obviously looking at the wrong sources cos I can’t find anything that references the ball bearing at all.

Something to keep in mind if looking to source from another outlet.
