I'll be looking to fit the carbs on the bike soon but the rubbers from the airbox to the carbs are the original ones and are quite stiff. Should the rubber be supple or or should it be quite stiff? Do I need to order new ones and if so where's the best place to get them? I see Norbo sells originals, just need to know if I need new ones now.
Thanks
Spooch

They should be supple enough so you can fit them but not rock hard. You can leave them for a day or two in brake fluid (jiffy bag is ideal) to soften them up a bit.

new ones are cheap as chips, just get new ones. Buy OEM not aftermarket.

I used a Wintergreen oil and IPA solution to soak rubber parts in. After a few days they are soft like new. They do smell funny when done :-)
They stay soft for about a year. Bare on here says you can just brush on couple of coats of Wintergreen oil for the same effect, but I have not tried that way yet.

I just warm them with a hairdryer before fitting the carbs, makes them lovely and soft

Hairdryer as above or take them off the bike and drop them in boiling water for a few minutes

Its a 250lc, probably should have said, might give the hair drier a go and see what happens. Failing that I'll order some new ones when funds allow.

No need to buy replacements.. if they are undamaged and only gone Hard. Boil them for instant Softening.. but it only lasts until they cool.. work fast :-) Or Buy some oil of wintergreen and paint them with it.. all over. Can also reapply it a time or 2 depending on how quickly it absorbs. Takes about a day or so for the smelly swill to fully work. But it Does.
