I've just reading my Insurance documents and there's a section that says year of manufacture, my bike is an YPVS LC2 on a D plate which means it was registered in 1986 which it says on the log book, I would say it was manufactured before 1986 as it's an LC2.
Do insurance companies except the registered year as the year of manufacture or would they try to get out of paying out should something happen.

I’d ask them, rather than on here.
Seems an honest enough question.

I was told by a nice lady at Devitt Insurance only yesterday that if I didn’t take out an agreed value policy ( on a 40 year old bike ) if anything happened to the bike ie theft then I would only be payed out Scrap value ! doesn’t seem right but that’s what she said, I can go on confused.com and get insurance from about £65 comp with loads of different companies, put in what I think the bikes worth etc, agreed value insurance was £111.

Check the policy document wording. Usually they go to Market Value if there is no agreed value. Scrap value seems a bit harsh...and a p155 take!

Back in the early 90’s my cx500 was written off after an accident that wasn’t my fault. I was only tpft so had an independent law firm (rss) dealing with the case. I was offered a few hundred quid for my CX but I argued successfully that you couldn’t replace a CX for less than about £1100 and went through mcn collecting adverts to prove this. So I suppose I did get current market value. And today you could argue current market value for a lc is 6-10000? But for peace of mind an agreed valuation would be a safer way to go.

Agreed valuation all the way
As far as I know under £10k doesn't need any proof

Yeah I’ve gone for the agreed valuation but need to send photos etc, bike valued £6K £7K, Devitt aren’t the cheapest but I’m with them for the BMW .
