I've done loads of track days and the best bit of advice I can give you is warm your tyres up for at least one lap unless you have tyre warmers even then if you are on the start line for too long they will cool down, 90% of people bin it on the first or second lap. It's not supposed to be a race don't let the old red haze come down and go banzi, slot in behind someone who is a bit faster than you learn the lines, smooth is faster ;D Enjoy

Definately watch the red mist, and come in for a break every 10 laps. Took my Fazer 1000 on a track night and got carried away trying to pass a duke 916. Eventually got past it after 12 laps of trying, went for the brakes at 140 for the next bend, brakes totally cooked and went across gravel trap before highsiding joining the track. Expensive mistake, about £1200 to fix.

I've never done a track day but i have done a couple of races some years back now . and as its all ready been said worm the tyres up on the first lap . Get a set of race comp tyres if you can . Putt HH ceramic carbon pads in the calipers dont put road pads in and braded steel. trust me brakes you cant have them to good. take some spairs like pegs gear and brake peddles incase you drop it and they brake . if you dont have spair then thats the day over .

Some good avice here: Here's my twopeniesworth ;D Like has been said take it easy on the first couple of laps to get everything, tyres and engine nice and warm, if you're keepig the standard wheels then I suggest a set of Avon AM23's, they warm up really quickly and although an old design grip really well, A&R racing can get you club compound at around 300 quid, they last a fair while though and are good in the wet too. You might want to look at the gearing too, 16/39 is a good base to start. A steering damper is a very good idea! Buid up slowly during the day, you will get quicker as a natural result of getting used to the track and how the bike goes in certain parts of it. Don't try to do too much to soon, the red mist comes pretty quick and it's easy to get carried away. Relax on the bike, get into a rythumn, and it will start to feel like you've been doing it all your life. Don't forget: Petrol/oil/riding gear and it's a good idea to have spare levers and footrests with you, I once went all the way to Snet and spent most of it watching because I forgot the box with the spare TZR brake levers in it, dropped the bike off the paddock stand Most of all just enjoy it, you can have so much fun embarrasing big 4 strokes on a 25 year old stroker, try to find one withmatching bike and leathers, makes it even funnier H
