So my v5 for my rs250 chasis arrived at the weekend, so it's time to start the build Need to turn up various spacers for swingarm and shock linkages that are no longer available to buy Ordered all the ally tubing and plating to fabricate the engine cradle and rear mounts The gsxr front end looks like it will fit right in with little effort once the head race bearing arrive Engine will be standard ypvs with 4mm stroked crank and quite a few other mods thumbnail.jpeg by Mike Bowker, on Flickr thumbnail.jpeg-2 by Mike Bowker, on Flickr thumbnail.jpeg-1 by Mike Bowker, on Flickr thumbnail.jpeg-3 by Mike Bowker, on Flickr

Myself and my mate are just building Aprilia Hybrids too. I have a Triumph 675R front end for mine. Just waiting for my engine mounting kit to come from Mark Dent.

Thats a great front end to use that will look great , I tried to contact Mark dent to order a kit but no answer to emails or calls so I,ll fabricate it myself , my brothers a coded welder/ fabricator and we have already built a rgv500 and a ns400 motor in a nc30 chasis so decided to do it ourselfs instead of wait for weeks

This has piqued my curiosity. Always wanted to see this done but the standard 250 engine was pretty powerful. What kind of BHP are you aiming for with the PV lump?

My mate's 4mm stroker YPVS engine makes 78hp on the local Dynapro dyno, so that gives a rough idea of real world figures :-)

These RS build are my favorite. To me they are likely exactly what Yamaha would have done if they continued to build two strokes. The frames are very reminiscent of the delta box even. Thanks!

You say the engine will be standard apart from 4mm crank, but why not get the port floors dropped while itโs apart?
My 385 cylinders should be back from Mick next week by the sound of it?
Happy days.

Are you going to centre the engine in the frame? I am aiming to on mine, and will adjust the sprocket offsets to get it lined up.

Just a thought perhaps you can bring the chainline closer to the tire by some hub adjustments. It is always convenient to have non offset stock sprockets.

It would interesting to see what offset other people have used on the front sprocket for this conversion...

The carrier is quite thin, but it maybe possible to mount the sprocket on the inside face if the chain will still clear the tyre. There is a modified sprocket carrier on eBay to work this way. Was adjusted by NK racing.
