Anyone got any good tips / products for cleaning the outside of carbs, to spruce them up etc. That doesn't involve blasting etc Cheers Mike

Carb cleaner and a brush will remove the filth and grim build up, will not do anything for staining though

I bought an ultrasonic cleaner. It was only about £40 I think. I've been cleaning a 31k carb this afternoon. The timer only goes up to 5 minutes and only half the carb is submerged at a time but I just keep turning it over and putting it back on. It had about 40 minutes in total probably but there's not a sign of anything on the carb now. I use ultrasonic car cleaning fluid diluted 10/1 with distilled water.

I’ve heard of people cutting a plastic bottle up big enough to put a carb in and standing it in the ultrasonic cleaner so you can do the whole carb in one go 👍

As Matt says said get a milk carton, cut it big enough for a carb to go in and sit in the US cleaner
Fill the carton with fluid then the US cleaner
The waves pass through the carton the same way they go through the metal tank

I've never done it but once read an article where James Whitham was saying that he uses alloy wheel cleaner for cleaning the outside of carbs
