Looks good 👍
It's a 35 year old 2 stroke, it will always need something done 😀

I bought it knowing it needed work but as dusty says the heavy lifting had been done😃 New clutch going in tomorrow as the old one was stuck solid,Oil pump seal done as there was a fair amount of 2 stroke in the gearbox oil and the seal had popped out😗, replaced the water pump with a high flow one with new bearing and seal as I was in there, made a leak test kit today and checked that and it's all good 😁 So hopefully tomorrow I should be almost ready to get it running again Next up will be replacing the rear suspension linkage set up,when it turns up from nk.as the dogbones are made up of 2 bits roughly welded together 😬 And they rub the bottom of the spring platform, so I am not chancing them. After that it's fork rebuild as 1 has started leaking with some stiffer springs and change the top yoke to raise the handlebars Is it possible to keep the clipons by dropping the forks through the yokes on Will that drop the front to far?

You can buy generic raised clip ons. They fit below the top yoke but are cast so they are raised an inch; 20200502_145900 by dusty miller, on Flickr Look at 50mm clip ons on ebay Dusty

I'm not sure that will be enough of a rise for my back 😔 It's come with a modified top yoke but the risers don't look tall enough to clear the fork tops

You could fit risers to the top yoke for normal bars. Downside is you may have to change cables and brake lines if they then aren't long enough Dusty

New ebc clutch kit now fitted, and side case back on with high flow pump and seals all replaced, I then moved to fitting the nk rear linkage kit and that's when it started to go wrong 😔 Found the rear wheel spindle loose but didn't think to much about it till I got the wheel out and found the sprocket carrier spacer missing 🙄 So the rear bearings are stuffed,Got the swingarm out to find the lower mounting has had the nuts ground off, so new spacers need making to make the nk kit fit, 😕the lower linkage bush has been replaced with one with the wrong length so can never have pivoted ,just been sandwiched by the bushes, the top shock mounting was the same, god knows how it had any suspension on the rear So I'm now on hold till the new bushes turn up from fowlers and the local engineer makes some for the mounting plates For the time being I have cleaned the carbs out ready (found the air box broken so that needs replacing) fitted my new silicon hose set that look standard to make it fell like I am marketing some progress I will be checking everything on this bike now as I don't trust a thing on it

Well the spacers are made and ready But still waiting for the bearing sleeve and sprocket carrier bush from Fowler’s, as after taking the order and money they email me to say they were short on both parts so had to order from factory. 😤 So I have swapped the neutral switch cover over Other than that I have had a airbox turn up with the top 2 pieces broken, but the seller sent out another pair the next day so can’t complain about his service, and been to the local bearing supplier for rear wheel/sprocket carrier bearings and seals. Just stuck waiting to be able to get the swinging arm in and back on its wheels so I can move to the front

Well the bearing sleeve and sprocket carrier spacer turned up Annoying how 2 things so small can hold you up So fitted the rear wheel bearings/sprocket carrier bearing and the seals, got the swinging arm and linkage back in, then found the swinging arm now hits the rear master cylinder outlet pipe and the under seat under tray(may have always hit but there are no bad markings), so I took the master cylinder off to find half a split pin used to attach the cylinder linkage to pedal And at that point I called it a night

Standard stuff on a hybrid lol
Yes you will need to trim the part of the inner muddy below the frame rail
4mm spacers under the master cylinder mounts should sort that
All the fun of a hybrid, at least it will be done right now 👍

I haven’t been able to do much this week due to my back playing up ☹️, managed to trim the under seat tray so the swinging arm now clears, and ordered loads more parts 😁 As I had the rear brake assembly off and on the bench I thought I would rebuild the cylinder and bleed it there, rear caliper pistons are all free and moving smoothly 😳 so that’s ready to go back on when possible. I managed to get one front caliper off to check what’s draging on the front and to my surprise it appears to be the pads rusted solid in the anti rattle shims, the pistons look good and appear free, so when I can I will check the other side and I may have got lucky at last

Been a while since my last update, not massive progress had happened but it’s starting to gain pace again Rear suspension is all in only need to find a location for the shock remote reservoir, either on the left behind the panel Or on the right hand side of the frame, what have others done? The rear brakes are sorted and back on with new Ebc pads, but sadly one front caliper has sticky pistons so I have a rebuild kit here ready Forks are currently out I have rebuilt one with new seals and bushes and fitted uprated hyperpro springs and oil, just the other one to do when I can get the time
