Scratching my head and run out of ideas! I am running a standard 1980 RD350 LC 4LO that I restored last year. The engine was totally rebuilt but the clutch, gears, etc. all looked perfect. When she is running everything in the cluch and gear department feels good with the correct amount of clutch bite, easy gear change and a quiet and smooth gearbox. The issue I have is the first start-up. When I start it from cold for the first time, I find that the first couple of times I put her in to gear she jolts forward and stalls as if the clutch isn't seperating the plates. If I pull in the cluch, click her in to gear and try top kick start her it just trys to jolt forward. After a couple of attempts then she works fine and I don't have the issue again until it has is stood for a couple of days. Its as if something is sticking and once broke, all is OK. I have tried adjusting the clutch mech and lever. The cable is a decent, new one and is not stretching. It have new oil in the box but I can't honestly remember what make it was but I am sure it was the correct grade. Short of strippling the whole engine down again to recheck everything, I am not sure where to go next! Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like the basket is worn and holding some/all the plates together, although this would still be evident when warm to a lesser extent. The side cover is easily removed, once the oil is drained

It's an oil/clutch plate issue
I've had it on a non Yam and know people who have had it on RD's
Never had the issue on any of mine but always use EBC plates

+ 1 Cold oil. I have same on my DT but just have to Rev it a bit more as let the clutch out or wait 10 seconds for oil to circulate
