I found the issue is trying to find an electric gun that has staples small enough
I have a tackwise stapler/nailer and they don't do small staples for it ☹

Yep. Those all list 6mm min apparently. Not ideal, but that would do. I have a larger dewalt stapler that will take 6mm staples. But it fires them about 2-3cm from the tip of the gun, so pretty useless for a seat. There are some air powered thin staple guns for upholstery work. All above the ton though Any tips on doing 31k seats? I've done plenty of the flatter 4LO ones, but does the raised section at the tank make it more tricky? Not had to use glue before, is it needed with them?

I've used a manual one, but it only puts the staples in about halfway... the other half was knocked in by small ball pein hammer. Not to much of a ball ache..... It was from Aidl or Lldi cant remember which. (Also cut the staples down a bit with tinsnips.... worked well on seats I've done)

I've got the Stanley electric one, it's more than up to stapling a seat cover, you'll need to buy some shorter staples than the ones that come with it. It also shoots nails btw.

I have this exact one and have done 2 LC seat covers using 6mm staples. The key is to firmly hold the stapler against the surface to ensure penetration in to the plastic, otherwise the staples fold.

I still use it and also hammer the staples in as needed. If you hold the seat flat and press the gun against it solidly you can often get them all the way in, only a few need the hammer.

Trago mills....now there’s a place....temple to stack it high sell it cheap...just needs a discerning shopper to sort value from tat....and a onsite pasty shop too ! It’s still a regular on our ‘go visit’ list when we go see in-laws... If you went back there now John you’d notice one thing...everything is bigger. The place has got huge and so has the shopper profile....all walking around in XXXL ‘comfort clothing’ ...or if too large to walk , sat on mobility scooters...or that’s what I assume are mobility scooters as TBH you can’t really see the scooter to clearly....too much body mass hiding it from view !
Having read what I’ve just written it’s sounding a bit sizeist! So before you all jump on me over that...not really what I’m saying...more from the Desmond Morris ‘people watching’ perspective...this is how society has literally morphed !
Anyway after that total digression, can you easily buy staples of the suitable length? Need to attack a seat at some point but haven’t got as far as pulling out an OE staple. Assume you don’t really want anything much more than 3-4mm ?

Haha, too funny. Trago was never really a quality environment even back then, but it was a day out from rainy Plymouth when I was there. As we head into Autumn here its got me thinking I'd love a pasty... will have to make our own tho, as we always do now, you just cant get em here.
Im not sure what my short staples are, 5 or 6mm.
FWIW I still have the Peugeot drill I bought cheap at Trago, it just will not die no matter how its treated. Its the Pug 505 of drills lol.

That's the one, as has been said you need to hold it tight against the seat as you pull the trigger, I try and lean all my weight on to it. It's actually a pretty handy tool, I repaired my gate with it, and have stapled mesh fencing to posts with it.
