Evening, finally got the crank out of my YPVS and it has been very neatly welded on the pins. Does anyone know of a firm that would rebuild it? Or is my only option a new one? Cheers D

I know P J Engineering won't touch a welded crank but they can be repaired
Chris Applebee sorted mine in the end but was quite a few years back

Traditionally OEM yama cranks can be repressed 3 x.. 'usually' :-) Many tuners would weld a crank on it's second pressing Or even first..when Extreme use was planned. Some welded Shite/worn out cranks to make them survive a little longer. Alledgedly the welds, if capably done, can be removed and rewelded on reassembly. Problem being; without full history there could be unpleasant surprises on disassembly imo a welded crank is at end of life.. Unless you have 100% certainty that it's only had One prior pressing.

On that Note 'Vitos' Performance Banshee (etc) Crank assemblies are Best of Breed Aftermarket Cranks, Currently considered superior even to OEM yama ones. Besides being notably Cheaper than OEM (in USA ;-) these feature both Welded AND splined webs.. polished rods, upgraded NTK (japan ) Bearings . Why piss about with back alley repair shops? Food for thought.
