I love the black & blue hybrid, thinking I'm going to paint mine similar but I keep changing my mind. Where did you get the blue hose from the header tank to the radiator, Thanks Trevor.

Jonw, i guess you mean the mouse sticker? No, but it is very cool. I meant the rad sticker/strip with the temp reading. I assume its easily found for industrial use, but a link to one with the right range and that can sit on a bike and is a good size would be useful, yours looked perfect for the application.

Well, just another update. The 'standard' 4LO is pretty much 'run-in' and going really well except...For some reason has decided to start sucking c**p from the tank into the carbs and blocking the pilots. However this is now in-hand thanks to some great advice from some people on this forum and hopefully should be sorted in the next week or so. The 31k hybrid is awaiting it's re-ferb'd oil pump from a certain 'Arrow' on this forum (the man is an absolute star and a real pleasure to deal with!) And the Black Hybrid, well she had a number of upgrades over the winter and after doing 200 miles the other week, can now comment on their worth: 1. Cooling finns added to the rad..............Success! seems to help keep her a bit cooler! 2. Cerakote on head barrels and rear caliper...Success! Looks great and withstands heat, no prob 3. Steering locks modified.....................Success! now have a steering lock 4. Rear shock refresh..........................Success! now back to her springy best and not leaking 5. Made a new undertray........................Success! not snapped and carrying electrics 6. New brake hoses all round...................Success! no leaks and the brakes all work (i bled them!) 7. Rear caliper, rebuild.......................Success! see above! 8. Hose from head to rad with new spigot.......Success! no leaks 9. Spare speedo and rev counter................No good! speedo under-reads and rev counter over-reads! Oh well, have put originals back on 10. Re-furb'd oil pump.........................Success! pumping beautifully 11. Leaking powervalves........................Success! no leaks 12. Leaking exhausts...........................Success! no leaks 13. Breaking exhaust springs regularly.........Success! finally found the correct length/strength 14. New chain fitted...........................Success! still on! 15. Replaced more bolts with titanium..........Success! still holding her together! 16. Extra porting by Stan Stephens.............Success! B****y Hell! Goes like stink from 5k, motor feels soooo strong! Apologies if some find this dull but the relief and joy that these changes have made is huge! IMG
Cheers all Mouse

Great looking bike Mouse. Have you tried throttling the de-aeration line to see if it improves the cooling?

Hey Mouse
Looking very nice, with your ypvs hybrid how do find the running temperature? I know the front end seems to block the airflow, I’m building one similar and don’t know whether to go for a wider radiator.
Thanks
Jess

Hey Mouse Looking very nice, with your ypvs hybrid how do find the running temperature? I know the front end seems to block the airflow, I’m building one similar and don’t know whether to go for a wider radiator. Thanks Jess Hi Jess, i have the biggest GMX rad fitted (widest and deepest) was told a while ago that the optimum temp should be between 58-63 degrees, if i am just riding around using all the revs/performance etc. i can keep the temp in the 60's ish depending on the air temp, if i keep up a sustained high speed (7-9000 rpm) the temp can go north of 70 on a hot day, however the bike cools down very quickly. When the air temp is in the low 60's i often have to tape up the rad to help bring the temp up, it's a bit of a balancing act! The rad scoops on the side have helped i think and also having the return hose from the back of the head plumbed into the rad as it would be on a YPVS rad has too. I don't run a thermostat, so the temperature does fluctuate a fair bit but you get used to it! Don't really know what else to do to keep her cool. By the way i get my degree readings from a small temp gauge plumbed into the hose from the top of the head to the rad, however the standard temp gauge has never been anywhere near the red zone! HTH Mouse

I had similar problems and throttled the deaeration line using a plug with a 2mm hole in it. This helped a lot. Personally i don't rate the radiator that well for my LC even though it looks great with nice welds.
