Guys Rebuilding front calipers and its been a mare, replacement pistons were too big , returned and placed another order only to be sent rear ones 3rd time lucky got the correct pair and fitted nicely. Now for the blonde moment cannot remember how shims fit to pads i thought they should be a tight fit on the pad but it doesn't matter which way I try they fall off and where do the springs go If someone can help with some pics it would be appreciated Thanks Tony

This has been bugging me since you asked
I've found that a lot of the time the shims do not fit well on aftermarket pads
As for the spring I've been looking through eBay listings trying to see
9nly memory I have is it going through a small hole in the caliper body and hooking onto the caliper bracket
Sorry I can't help more
Steve

I generally leave the shims off, especially as Steve says with after market pads.
I did have some pics up of the springs fitted but photof**kit did their thing, must be some on google images?

Going to leave shims off as they do not sit nice at all pads , still having trouble fitting pads with support bracket now as the pin is really tight and pads will not move along the pin as I thought they would . These calipers have got to be the worst ones I have ever worked on

Always removed the shims. A light smear of Copperslip on the rear of the pad that goes to the piston was all I used.

Think they just provide some tension between the 2 parts of the caliper
They go into the small hole in the alloy body of the caliper and locate back onto the steel bracket
I'll look to see if I have a pic
Steve
this is what steve told me
