Ordered some parts from USA
Despatched on 26/1
Notices parcel guy coming to the door, unsigned white van
"Got a parcel for you"
I see the parcel tape is from the sister company of who I ordered through
"Oh, I've just noticed there is Β£86 duty to pay" he says
That will be right as I'd spent Β£430 so 20% is Β£86 I thought
"I can't leave it till the duty is paid" he says so I ask how I'm supposed to do that as they usually send a card out
I ask who he works for and he says he's subcontracted to UPS
I ask how I'm supposed to pay the duty
He comes back saying some people are giving him cash π±
I tell him to take it away, I'll pay the duty when UPS contact me properly
If it was a UPS guy in a UPS uniform in UPS van I'd have considered it
Not some random in a hi viz vest waving a PDA at me that I can't read asking for cash π

It's the same when buying from Europe now and it can vary so much depending on how the seller describes the item. Got a phone from China and the seller put an invoice in for more than i paid!!! had to put a claim in with HMRC to get access charges back.

Nice. Many of us in Aus used to buy these from Partzilla all the time a few years back as they were much cheaper than refurbishing an old one really. Then i discovered powdercoating and i restored all my old ones as id not chucked em out lol Theyve gone up a little now, but still much cheaper than the UK/EU prices when bought from the USA.
One thing... always check and clean out the flashing from the mould in the pump waterway if you didnt know about it, the new ones are often restricted in this area.
What does amuse me is that the oil pump gasket face and the water inlet are both painted, on the old back the day units these were left in alloy as they work better for sealing etc. I guess the oil pump isnt a biggie on a banshee as its just gasketed to blanking plate of course.
