Do you think this worth getting repaired? Would it be something you would do yourself? Ive read a few of the plastic weld threads and advise and I'm just worried after all the effort it would crack again. Has anyone been successful with something similar condition and its held up after a repair? Any recommendations much appreciated.
Thanks Rob

It's already had a few repairs by the looks of it, so what've you got to loose I quite enjoy doing this sort of stuff, making missing bit etc and 'welding' it all back together. Only use soldering iron method, and old panels etc. Got a bottle of MEK to soften the area, and also have this mixed with some loose/clean abs to use as a filler. Don't use too much heat on the repair as I'm led to believe this is what makes it brittle, and don't forget to remove all the paint around the cracks etc.

Definitely worth giving it a go as looks like a genuine one. I have one to do as well, but not as bad as yours although I also have a front muddy that needs quite a bit of work. I was planning to use fine copper mesh on inside to strengthen the plastic weld and will probably use an sacrifice and old side panel as filler. Interested to hear how you get on.

Done loads like this, just take your time and you can repair anything.
I posted some info about how to do this the other day actually.

ABS plumbing cement will create a strong solvent bond. Reinforce with fiberglass cloth on the inside in areas that were weak before. Major gaps can be filled with pieces of wreck take-offs from your friendly local service department (I scored the entire side of a GL1800 just for the asking).
