Evening, when i bought the lc250 i had planned on having it painted in KR colours ( i just like it although its a bit common now), however the paint and panels on the bike are just too good to mess around with and have been done to a high standard. so the question is do i just buy panels as and when they come up on forums / ebay etc, or buy norbos new pattern stuff and find myself a decent painter ( stuff that i see done on here is fantastic quality done by the same old recommended names), or do i buy one of the ready done sets that i see occasionally on e bay which i assume is done by one of the famous named painters recommended on here. the only thing i need to be new is the tank as i dont want issues in the future. or alternatively see if i can find someone who wants to sell a full set for whatever reason and wants to get a new set themselves ( the difference probably being less than the price of a paintjob). i guess the whole job is going to be between 1k and 1200 quid but obviously i would like it to be less. whats the thoughts of you guys? im not in a massive rush but its something in my head that wont go away , probably lockdown fever !!!

A decent paint job is £750 plus tank is what £400? So I’d budget for slightly more than £1000-1200. I bought brand new everything in carbon and a new tank plus paint job I reckon it’s closer to £2000.

there were definitely some sets advertised on e bay for 1250 a few weeks back but i havent seen the advert since. im sure it was one of the noted painters off here. i dont mind second hand panels as they seem plentiful and occasionally they are cheap , eg mudguards at £40 which can knock the price down a bit , indeed there may be someone out there in LC land that has a full kit waiting to sell.

I bought new pattern tank from Norbo, plus new panels and tail. The new plastic is less likely to crack than the original parts, and the tank is a given. Mark Cordwell collected all the new parts from Norbo and then sprayed them for me. Think it was £1200, all in, but a couple of years ago now. Dusty

I stand corrected it’s just me that has more money than sense. I guess as well my carbon stuff was more expensive 😁

Would buy new tank and panels as the lads have said then you do not have the extra cost of repairs / labour as it can be hard enough to find good original tank and panels that does not need some sort of repairs Cheapest option would be to swap with someone who may have the KR colours you want but could be a waiting game Regards Jay

And Mark does sell kits on ebay every now and then Dusty cheers, thats what i wanted to hear. thanks. I'm in a similar position to you but the bodywork I have is pretty rough. I have three bikes to do but only two tanks. One of them fell from quite a few feet up in the garage and has a couple of extra dents in it now. I was seriously considering the kits on eBay. Obviously for too long because they disappeared. I think it's Mark Cordwell selling them and he has a good reputation on here.

Hi Fletch ! Not sure where your based but always a good idea to shop around for paintwork especially if your considering new tank & panels or ones that require little work, the more work required is going to bump up the cost, as always prep is key to a decent job..

I just went the Norbo full new body kit, designed my own style, talked to Mr Cordwell and dropped it off. Should be done end of this month. A very fair price considering it's not the usual style. Pics once it's back on the bike!

I actually got it here in the for sale section, Steve listed it for his friend and I shot him an email and he wrapped it up and sent it to me,
Paint it just class, all panels and tank are brand new, Fits class... Muddy isn't fitted yet.. I was going to go with a yellow bellypan, decided on black/white instead.
