I just had my first ride on the lc250 i bought in november ( nice dry day today) anyway its as flat as a witches tit and pretty much needs choke to run so im guessing the pilot circuit is blocked. i dont have a problem removing , stripping and cleaning carbs but before i do i need to know more about this brass ball removal that i have heard mentioned. Is it necessary / worth it etc? as i have stripped many carbs in the past and never had to do it ( mainly 2 t mx and enduro bikes). if it is necessary can somebody just briefly explain the procedure. thanks in advance .

The ball is a push fit so just needs carefully drilling and I used an easy out to remove. Then you can clean the circuit out properly.
Either push a new ball in or tap 5mm for a grub screw.

Just to add my bit of experience. I drill halfway through the ball and use the drill bit to wiggle out the ball. Then re use the ball again with a bit of epoxy 👍🏻

I drill into the ball and then use the drill bit to wiggle it out too; 20200101_104935 by dusty miller, on Flickr 20200101_161003 by dusty miller, on Flickr Definitely worth doing, and you cant really sort carb issues without at least checking this circuit is clear. Squirt some Wd40 into the hole and see if it drains - if it doesn't it's blocked. You can buy replacement brass balls on ebay, or tap and thread for a grub screw as Lcmarky said. Dusty

I like The grub screw method as well, but I think people would prefer to see the brass ball.
