Bought a rd250lc project a barely rolling chassis with engine none matching numbers, a lot of bits were missing. My initial idea was to build a hybrid get a ypvs engine. With price of a good ypvs lump alot of money! decided to rebuild what I had the top end needed a rebore but the bottom end was surprisingly good, very little signs of wear.Fast forward nearly 2years I've built an almost standard rd250lc which to be fair is great fun to ride and not much slower than my 350.So finally with a lot of 250s being converted to 350s are original 250s going to end being rarer in the long run?Tried to post pictures but it just ends up frying my head drive.google.com/file/d/1V8Aem1BEs61t_Z1fYYOKGhJLMDzq-zEe/view?usp=drivesdk

I love the 250's and think they are great value for money. I think that matching number original UK 4L1 250's will become desirable due to rarity as time goes on as it will be the purists and museum pieces not the everyday riders. It sounds like you have an entry level LC, that looks original and should be as fun as a non-matching and will still get you into a conversation at the pumps. Without pictures and details, or knowing if its a Euro or UK bike, I would think its in the £4-5k region.

I've owned 250s and 350s, I preferred the 250 to the 350, I thought they were nicer to ride and only about 5mph slower.

As Shaun says I think £4-£5K is somewhere where the bike will sit depending on finish, quality of parts etc, Will it become rarer/more desirable than its big 350 brother ? No I doubt it very much, people crave over the 4L0 bikes they always have done even though their dna is very similar.

That’s so weirded, I’m the exact opposite, always found the 250 lacking some what, difficult to keep on the boil so to speak, each to their own at the end of the day, I suppose we all ride them differently ..

I found the 250 to be crisper and more rewarding to ride, but it's probably the way I like to ride a bike as I prefer my FZR400 to my FZ750 Though I think the best of the LCs to ride are the power valves, and they've got the most mid range and are the heaviest, it could just be that I had a duff 350LC.
