I’ve got two LC hybrids, both with wide wheels so I’m not an LC expert.
But, isn’t there supposed to be a split pin in the torque arm stud? Maybe not?

Most of us aren't getting any younger and as the average Elsie owner is over fifty, it's a good time to sell as the desireablity fades as the years pass on.

New bikes depreciate and these old Elsies don’t, they accumulate & I think that has or certainly should have something to do with their value which is the same for other classics.
Yes you can buy a good amount of new bike for say £10k (new Tuono 660 anyone), but in 2 years the Elsie has risen and the new one’s depreciated at least 25% and all this adds to the initial value.
I have a mix of old and new so man maths works out about cost neutral and seeing as there’s no room in our coffins for our bikes we should get the most of them while we can plus there aren’t many available in this kind of condition.

Reasonable to assume the 'bubble' has Or is about to burst. The day that one runs out of 'bigger fools' is It. 13K for a cheap mass market bike.. that sold for 1700$ New is unquestionably a Bubble price. Save your coin ? there may be some relative bargains .. soon.

The supply of bikes for sale has dried up since the lock downs started, which would push prices up. Maybe prices will come down again when we are on the other side of it, but we are a long way from there.

The RDLC is an icon, same as Ford escort MK1 MK2, MK1 mini cooper, E type Jag, the Cosworth and the like, I think they will still be popular in another 20 years easy, there are lots of us here, and more join every day, I don't think they are going out of fashion any time soon.
I watch bangers and cash (love that program) and I see a healthy mix of people a lot older than the most of us, they are still buying things from their time, you get to an age where you want all this our generation stuff you couldn't afford when younger, or the stuff your dad had, watched a MK1 mini cooper that was just a pile of rust go for 17 grand odd, very little salvageable on it, needed new everything.
Though I have noticed the older the buyer, the more important it seams to be that whatever it is is in standard near mint condition, some buy to do up, but I see most even then want it all original near as new condition.
At the end of the day though, its down to the buyer to do their own research when buying such things, there are very few original LC's out there now, they are nearly all trig's brooms anyway, built from second hand German parts mainly, so think on that next time your looking at a low mileage matching numbers UK bike, and that's where this site comes in so handy, someone will know if you are getting a good deal or not, and also tell you if it has the wrong rivet in the front mudguard.
Just some of my observations.

Bangers and Cash,, I love that programme.. yes I saw the episode with the cooperS, after all the people raved about it’s originality the buyers then said it would be re shelled !! well tbh that was the only option open to it wasn’t it ? So is it then original ? No of course it isn’t but swapping the vin over would result in a £50K car !! Shocking tbh , I always thought it was illegal ? .. it’s not just the iconic bike prices that appear to be rising but anything late 70’s / 80’s ,, even a scabby Superdream can command a decent price these days ( or so it seems) yeah they were crap along with most of the stuff from that era, that said I can’t see LC prices falling to much, if you paid £500 for your ride 25 years ago your in safe hands, if you shell £13K out for one next week ,, well that’s another story ...

Government has injected free money into System due to covid 19. Motorhomes and some classic vehicles demand out striped supply in 2020. Many financially have more disposable income in 2020 due to furlough money and taking mortgage holidays. With more restrictions looking likely furlough could be extended beyond April. With Brexit sand storm starting to take reality hit this may be enough to bring prices down for 2022 with people disposable income taking a hit in next 12 months.

As soon as furlough ends, there will be a massive load of redundancies as many bankrupt businesses have been kept afloat with our tax dollars. Tax will go through the roof to pay back all the spending so lots of toys will be cashed in creating another crash like the late 80s/ early 90s. Folk arn't spending money at the moment on holidays, cars, etc so have loads of free time and spare cash to spend hence the price of projects being double than what they usually are and lots of folk chancing their arm for piles of scrap.
