Current dilemma is what direction for current project. I’m building a YPVS with YZFR125 front and back ends and 70bhp (ish) motor. I’ve got a 31K frame and cases with matching numbers and V5 in my name. Also got an F2 frame and cases with non-matching numbers but it’s a German import with no docs so I’ll have a bit of grief getting it registered. I’ll probably cut the back half of the frame and graft on something more modern. So is it sacrilegious to chop the matching numbers 31K? Would it be worth enough to justify me going through the hassle of registering the import? If 31K is getting sold it’ll go away with most of a complete bike but just empty crankcases so I suppose it’ll have a bit of value. Need to decide before I get the angle grinder out?

You’re maybe confusing or trying to link two topics.... 1. Is a matching frame and cases (uk?) with V5 the best place to start a hybrid project....particularly when the disc cutter is first action.. 2. What to do with some german stuff ...maybe not even on a nova?
Answer to 1. Is no Answer to 2 is who knows !
So just focus on what you want to do, someone probably got a YPVS frame with a V5 who would either sell as part of a trade. But really best place to start is find frame with a few missing bits that’s got a V5.

Exactly how much of the 31k is there and what kind of value are you putting on it.
You have pricked my interest as I have an Lc2 frame with a UK v5 in my name 😉

Sell the 31k matching no frame/cases to someone who wants to build a stock bike, wouldn't be right chopping it.
Then try to get a Nova on the German Frame, shouldn't be too difficult. You may have to pay a bit of VAT now but I think its only 5% of whatever notional figure you declare you bought it from your long lost cousin Hans!

Russie the value would probably be in the lc2 and there are likely to be takers for it on here, whereabouts are you based for anyone that may be interested? By the way that ain’t me I’m strictly a 4L0 man.

I’ve used the same swing arm on my 31k matching numbers Uk bike and built a hybrid it slots in with spacers and a bracket go’s where the centre stand used to fit no chopping if you don’t want to

I’ve been a bit overwhelmed with enquiries since my original post. I’ve decided I’m keeping it for now. Not chopping it. I’m just going to wait and work through the process of trying to register my F2. Once that either succeeds or fails, then I’ll decide what’s happening with the 31K. I won’t forget who the genuine enquiries have come from if it does end up for sale. A few have suggested using the 31K for my current project without chopping the frame and just using the original seat unit. That might be a third option. Sorry if I got anyone over excited!
