"Willow", our 7 week old English Springer Spaniel pup; thumbnail by dusty miller, on Flickr I wanted to call her "Elsie" but I got outvoted 3 to 1 ! I will be training her to locate and retrieve 10mm sockets, and engine parts that ping off during strip down ! She will keep Indie company, although Indie doesn't seem overly pleased with the new arrival at the mo !! thumbnail (2) by dusty miller, on Flickr Dusty

Willow looks like a wee smasher. We have a cat called Elsie, Iv posted pics on here in the past of her. When I posted on here about Elsie the cat, it turns out there were/are a few on here with pets called Elsie. Steven.

Beautiful wee pup, Dusty. Here's our new Covid Puppy called Flora. She's almost seven months now, and we've had her since eight weeks. She's a Mini Aussie/Poodle cross (Mini Aussiedoodle). About 16lbs dripping wet.

Can I ask how much you’ve all paid? I only ask as my last two working c**kers were £750 each 5 years ago but a mate wants one and reckons he’s being quoted £2500-3000? Also just be aware criminals are heavily moving into puppy theft because of demand in lockdown , make sure they’re chipped and if your not breeding get them done ASAP. 👍

Ha rigga check you, what did you get? We got another mini Schnauzer, had him six weeks now, and id forgotten what the puppy stage was like, he's mental and fixated on hanging off Caspers beard or ears, not much tolerance being shown, but day by day there's more acceptance

We paid £1450 for Willow. The first pup we looked at in Wales - the puppy farm - was £1800. Prices have rocketed during lockdown, with people finding time on their hands, and believing buying a dog will keep them and the kids amused whilst at home. Reality bites when things get back to normal, and re homing centres will fill up when the short sighted amongst the new owners realise they have no time for a new pet We know someone who is a dog trainer and behaviour expert, and she is flat out dealing with dogs with aggression issues, due mainly to being "dropped" when things got back to "normal" last year after the first lockdown. We did seriously consider a rescue centre dog, but couldn't find a Springer for love nor money, plus we didn't want to inherit a problem dog. A mate got a rescue black lab a few years back, and no matter how much time and effort he puts in, the dog is still a liability, and has got him into a few scrapes He perseveres, but it isn't a joy to be around, which is unusual for a Labrador. And yes, dog theft is a big problem now, with people being mugged in the street for their dogs. Either stolen to order for new owners, breeding or worst, dog baiting We've always had dogs - growing up it was Labs and Retrievers, and since 2005, Springer Spaniels, and since we lost Millie in December 2019, it was inevitable we would get another to keep Indie company. Willow has really settled in now, and today we really know we've got her ! Fun times ahead Dusty

Willow looks so cute. There like babies at first. Even sleeping on the bed to get them quiet. I know it's not dog PC but at 3 in the morning, sometimes you do anything to get back to sleep. Dont forget there a pack animal and normally sleep together with their family, so as your their adopted family, they want to be with you 24.7

Casper sleeps with me when I'm not on nights, and actually will not entertain being on the bed when the wife's on her own, sits there while she's reading, but as soon as the lights off, he's off to his own bed on the floor.
As said pack animals, lots don't think having dogs upstairs is a good thing, not on furniture etc, but they soon became very much part of the family, so where i go, they do too.

We never had the dogs upstairs but when we lost Tazzy’s mum in 2019 we started letting him sleep in his basket in our room, yes some mornings you wake and he’s there nose to nose with you but don’t think we’d have it any other way now, strange how things change,, not sure what my Mum would of thought about it ?? Dusty Looking fabulous Dusty, we are a couple of weeks into the walking, lots of experiences to be had, and lots of barking. Doggy jumpers are a thing here too, Casper hates the cold, and shivers without his jumper or coat on, yes god knows how canines survived centuries without adding another coat to their natural designed one, but gotta do what's best for them.

Well, Willow is now 8 months old ! Cant believe where the time has gone; 20210808_121230 by dusty miller, on Flickr Took them up to Runneymede today and she sat still just long enough for a pic ! She is a proper Springer Spaniel now, would kill for a tennis ball, and loves chasing squirrels and foxes out of the garden ! Never a dull moment !! Dusty
