I recently re-covered an original 4L0 seat with new foam a standard cover but want a Giuliari style Seat as well.
Would you pay >£250 for a new Giuliari Seat or approx £120 to replace the foam and cover with a Giuliari “style” Seat cover? 🤔

If you want a Giuliari style seat I would think you’ll need to buy one of the repo ones, that’s if you can get one ?? Personally I don’t think your second option look anything like one, this 250 on eBay looks to have this set up fitted. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133609223696

The repros always look weird compared to an original, they just dont ever get the shape right.

I should also say that plenty of people find the original gully to look weird, so maybe the repro shape is more aesthetically pleasing to some, its not and original and doesnt look like one tho. If you want an original (or just the original look) then only an original will do it seems.
I love mine. its a classic bit of old skool madness that made perfect sense when we were young. Tassles and foam grips and even the horrid ProAm fairing was all the rage back in the day and could get you furtive looks at the chip shop... tho sadly only by other young blokes who were jealous of your buying power lol Im still yet to find a young lady who would notice that a bike had a different seat or other parts... back in the day most of them seemed to be more impressed by guys with cars and not glance twice at my smelly two stroke bike lol
Anyway. Proper gully seats can be found, just keep looking. the modern gully repro cover is fine (if a bit thin) so if you find a white (now beige) one you can cover it to look like new.

You cant even go on a quick trip to the petrol station without some old codger (like us lol) coming up and fawning all over your bike. "I used to have one of those Honda 500s in 1974 just like your one...' Er, its an LC 350 mate... get yer eyes and your memory tested you old giffer!

“Dude Magnet “ ? You sure you guys are on the right site ? 😂 so 3 options available for the Giuliari style look available. 1. Giuliari style cover on an LC base with new foam 2. Brand new Repro ( that looks different to original ) 3. New cover on an old Original Giuliari base/foam
all 3 look very different so at the end of the day it’s down to personal choice, Budget and of course availability of ones chosen preference.

Hmm... I really wish people wouldnt call the repros 'Giuliari conversions' as they are complete reproductions and not real Giuliari seats at all and some people might think they use real Giuliari parts, which they dont and this might end up with someone overpaying on a copy at some point. 'Giuliari Style...' maybe?
The Giuliari style seat cover on a normal LC base is the weirdest of these I reckon, it makes no pretence to having the Giuliari shape and just uses a stylised cover.
To be honest the market for Giuliari seats is a weird one. so many of the old skool parts are badly made and have little love now (Raask rearsets anyone?) its weird that these seats are so sought after. I love my rassks and my Giuliari seat, but I am not normal lol

JonWStrange, I quite like the Guiliari style cover for the standard LC seat. It has no pretence of trying to look like an original when it’s not. Breaks up the ‘blockiness’ of a standard cover IMO. Jon

Its cool you like it Jon, thats what i love about our bikes, they are the ultimate in self expression. We fit what we like, always have! The JDM LC seat has blocks in it too, down the middle. I have one of those on my 251LC and love that seat, new Japanese foam and thick cover makes it a delight to sit on.

Like I always say , each to their own, there’s no right or wrong it’s people’s personal preference, if you like the look of something buy the damn thing and stick it on yer bike !

Tis a free world...well a perception of one....but anybody going ‘Carlos fandango’ should still expect a knock from the style police...!

Thanks for all of your feedback and thoughts chaps, I am really chuffed that as a newbe I was able to get so many responses. 👍
Given that I have a standard seat and like the idea of having a non-standard one as well, I think a new Giuliari from Norbo is what I will do. 👊

The one from Norbo on the blue LC looks good
Is it the one with a fibreglass base or are all the copies on fibreglass ?

when I was talking to bobtheseat about it, he said the gully foam was taller than std so this makes his conversions look and height different depending on whether you use a std foam or a gully foam.

My gully seat is brick hard ,i got a local upholsterer to put softer foam in but he didn’t do it as its the shape of the seat that makes it hard where you bum sits the foam is only 1” thick

Hmm.. wasn't aware that Norbo had Repro Seats. That Blue LCs' seat looks quite good.. far more attractive than the factory LC one.
