Hi all Well Jon’s BEET horn cover is all done😁 Will need a small amount of tidying up and the ribs and logo highlighted in silver which Jon is planning to do👍 Not a BEET fan but pretty cool for a one off😎 that’s got me thinking. If anybody else fancy’s a custom horn cover just drop me a PM 😁😁 Have a good Xmas all (there I said it😁😁) Best wishes and stay safe Al

I think it’s a Japanese custom bike part maker But I don’t think they ever made a custom horn cover hence the request

Can look into this if you want
Logan is getting a twin extrusion printer for Xmas and would like him to try printing a “black” horn cover blank inscribed with a requested logo in silver maybe?
Best wishes Al

OBG is right, I am very chuffed indeed. A little tidy up and some paint and I hope I can do justice to Alan's hard work. Thanks mate! One thing that I do like about a custom horn cover is that its not over the top and its at the front of the bike, not at all hard to bolt on and off. I reckon these are the perfect way to do a small amount of simple customisation without going OTT. Alan's going to be busy with this kind of job I reckon

Jon, I hope you'll be fitting the prerequisite whale tail to the JDM replica bike.

I’ve actually quite a bit of beet stuff but it’s all in 1/12 th scale as a lot of Japanese mid 80’s model bike kits came with it for z400’s cbx400’s etc didn’t much like it then nor now. That Japanese custom style is erm unique. However what al has done for Jon is brilliant not my cup of char but still good.

Those are super cool Tim!
I got very into the JDM scene when i built my 251LC and loved the fact I was modding a bike that wasnt the way they were done in the uk or aus etc. I have a resto Lc and a RGV hybrid 421 so needed to do something else, and chose that style. Its also led to me doing the F2 JDM ish build as well.
Sadly i cant/wont fight with the 3rd party people to buy a lot of this JDM stuff so have to compromise. I just dont have an unlimited (or big) budget sadly. I would love one of those tails really, I think from the right angle they are fine... probably from the front of the bike in a dark garage lol

Jon huge kudos for going your own way. The prices of the genuine stuff is ridiculous £1000 for two engine side covers they I would imagine are almost in alan’s printers ability 😁. The side panels and duck tales I’m guessing you could do in glass fibre .I think If al did the badges cutting down some side panels then fitting some external strips would be possible?

Thanks mate. I reckon its hard to do something different these days, well maybe not 'different' more just doing 'something that has not been done before by all of the great builders on here or in the past' etc. So I found something i liked and found i gelled with it, I like the Japanese 'no fks given' approach to this stuff, its like we were in the 80s with our bikes, but they still live it today. I do have a plan for some 'silly' (most people will say) side panels for this bike and yes Alan and I already chatted about some ideas We'll see if I ever get there I guess lol.

There's a Beet style tail section on there for $85 USD. buyee.jp/item/search/query/rz350%20beet?suggest=1I've not used buyee before, but have had Moriwaki Man/unobtainium.com bid, source and ship quite a few JDM items to me here in the states before hel lost his mind.

Tim, a bunch of that new stuff is available on webike for better prices as well I think.
Ive spoke to Beet about new side covers and they did a run not that long back for the RZ250 (an LC in Japan) but they didnt want to do more as yet. They have moved on, tho it is a seminal piece of their work etc.

I’d love to see it in the same way I’d love to see that genuine one that dusty posted on here in the flesh and know more about it. The Japan web auction sites no good? Or just too pricey?

Trust me ive spent hours and hours looking at all those auction sites and the 3rd party buying sites in Japan and sadly all I see are people making good money out of those of us who desperately want to buy those things sadly. What starts out as already at the top of (or out of?) my price range soon goes ballistic. They add a lot of fees plus there is posting in japan, posting to you (or to another 3rd party in your country and another post charge inside your country) plus fees for packing (often different levels of quality offered with diff fees for that), storing if needed and adding extra items... plus always adding taxes and imports for your country (even if its under the limit if imports) and then adding a clip as a fee for just being there etc etc. All of that means I just cant justify it. I know it means you can get stuff out of japan that no one else can, but sadly its just not for me. I have too many builds to do and funds are limited etc. I get why they do it it and why it costs what it does, its just I cant afford it I guess.

I’ll keep my eyes open this end 👍 didn’t realise there were so many chargeable extras as I’ve always just bought straight from Japanese shops and only ever motorcycle model kits.

Thats kind of you Tim. If I could find a set of side panels in the UK I would be made up. Finding the tail and muddy would good too, but Im less hopeful. Ive spoken to the main importer of japanese bikes here as Ive known them for 15years and they dont have any, but i know they imported some bikes with them on and i bet people restored those bikes and have those nasty alloy side covers at the back of their sheds... they just dont know that I (or anyone would) want a set...

Yeah, Moriwaki Man charged 10% of the item price, plus actual shipping from him in Japan to me in the States.
Shipping generally was less than I expected after dealing with shipping to/from the UK.
I got a couple JDM TDR ally swingarms for around $200 each (plus a few other TDR and 3XV bits), which seemed a good deal at the time.
Miyabeeplus.co.jp is good too, but they're a breakers,so all OEM stuff usually.

An update: Christmas might seem a long time ago now, but try telling that to the postal system... yeah, yeah, Covid, blah blah... Anyway, the good news is that last week my packet from Al arrived and on a couple of decent painting days I set to work. A little sanding and a couple of coats of primer/surfacer and some top coats and I have this. All in all a great fun project, now completed! Thanks Al and for those who were interested in what we were doing at the tail end of last year. (and yes my headlight bezel is off. I wasnt happy with the inner bezel and wanted to pushed out and dress a few more damage marks before it goes back into the plating run tubs. It's always the little details... )
