This is the bike I have dreamed about for many years but never been able to afford one. I purchased this in August. It’s a Yamaha RZV500R Japanese import. The Jap version of the RD500 but with up rated suspension and Alloy frame. It was unregistered for the UK and the Speedo was reading 9000k (not sure if this is correct) I serviced the bike and MOTed if so I could get an age related plate. After allot of paperwork and running about the Reg number arrive and I used the bike a few times just to see what it was like. It actually looks better in the photos but she was mechanically sound. There were a few bits missing and damaged plastics etc (I reckon this was caused in the container from Japan. The first ride was awesome, the power band is mad, a very impressive ride Now winter has arrived I have started the resto. First job was to remove the plastics and get them sent of for repair, these are now back to me and will be going to the painter this weekend. (Same paint scheme but pearl white and red) Panels repaired I striped the paint of the wheels. The correct colour is gold but mine were painted black. Just looks so boring in black and gold just looks horrible so I decided to go non standard and have powder coated red with polished spokes and rims. This was a job for Nick Chambers. (RDbitz.co.uk) I bought a set of spare wheels on Ebay and send them to Nick and they should soon be ready. He has polished and powder coated them, fitted new bearing and a new set of Bridgestone BT45s (The price he got me on the tyres was better than I could get locally so I got him to do the lot. I have started striping the rear end and the rear brakes are now finished. Striped ready for painting Painted and a new kit fitted. Rear Calliper Ready for new pistons and seals Finished rear calliper Some nice NOS parts waiting to be fitted. This bike has cost me a fortune (don’t tell the wife) That genuine Yamaha tool kit with all the tools only cost me £30 More photos to follow soon.

Thats a lovely bike, iv wheelied a few RZV500s in my time, strange bike, they ride like a four stroke i thought, loads of bottom end power then a 2 stroke type powerband, sounds odd i know but thats a good description i reckon haha. . The 500 Gamma is an animal in comparison but i prefer the RZ. Iv never ridden a UK RD500 , we had West Coast Imports up the road so loads of RZs round here a few years ago.

Just love that colour scheme - i remember when i first saw an RD500 in the window of ESB in Bolton. When i got my R1 it just had to be that colour. Not many Rd5's round our way when i was a kid, we were all too poor! One lad had an RG500, and that was mental. Ran out of fuel on the A666 and had to push it a mile and half home. Happy days.......

Paint is Pearl white with glitter red. The glitter only shows in the sun. Not standard but its what I wanted. Wheels are powder coated with polish rims. I did not like the gold standard wheels.

Oi Dorkins 6 months isnt quite normal I usually take a year to do plastic pigs. Can I make a small suggestion either buy a new camera or learn to use the one you have, your blured piccys almost make the bike look smart. Seriously well done I am pleased I talked myself out of the std white and red,, the things you do for people. You certainly took your time but its worth it in the end. I had to talk him into the pearl white and the glitter red but I got there. When the fairing is on I will do a video of the bike running
