Hi just rebuilt the Ypvs f2 and she looks great , starts first kick but when pulling away I have to Rev it a bit to get her going , then she runs ok until then seems to stop just before the power band . The power valve has been set up inline with hole and closes when revved up . The spark plugs are a little bit black ,checked the float height at 21 mm and the jets are 185 . Any advise where to start thanks

iv'e seen a few threads where someone's bike runs out of puff around 5000 revs and it usually is the alternator windings at fault, insulation breaking down as the bike gets warmer, they rest out ok when cold so the windings have to be heated up with a hot air gun/ hairdryer and tested again. but have you cleaned out the carbs? there can be a load of clag hiding behind the emulsion tubes..

Check the power valves aren't 180 degrees out or the pv cable connected wrong and turning the wrong way

No idea what carbs or other setup you have.. but 185 mains reads as a bit reduced from the 230 ~ oem setup. PV's end their initial ignition 'turn on' cleaning cycle at Wide open, then close down when the bike fires up
