Hi, I wondered if anyone had fitted an LED headlamp bulb to a powervalve, looking for recommendations. My bike was originally from Canada so is wired to run the headlamp all the time, the trouble is that the horn will not work at idle so I thought I would fit an LED headlamp bulb to leave more power available for the horn. There are lots of LED H4 replacement bulbs about but I bought one and despite claiming low and high beam there was no dip. I got my money back but would still like to buy one (that worked!). Thanks Greg

I've recently fitted two of my power valves with LED H4 and rear light replacements and a couple of XT600s with just the rears from Paul Goff. I fitted the New Daylighter 2 it transforms the front headlight. www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffyWhyNotLEDs.htm

Interesting and attractive Leds. Frankly though.. I'm not eager to spend ~100 U$ for an Effing headlight bulb. My H4 bulb works fairly well and certainly enough for the limited Dusk riding I do :-)

Good to know that the ones from Paul Goff work well. They are quite expensive compared to a lot on the market but as I have already found out there is a lot of rubbish being sold. I have no real problem with how the standard H4 works, I just want a horn that I know will work.

Will the bike pass an MOT I wonder because the reflector in an old headlight wasn't designed for these.

These look much better than the normal ebay LED H4s (which i bought for garage art and didnt really work out as my main transformers dont like them) which dont pass the light back into the reflector, just let it out the front. I'd defo try on those Paul Goffs. I run LED rears in a lot of my bikes, it helps with the power but also they are much brighter which is good for warning the idiots following me that im braking.

I bought an expensive LED bulb that has a tiny fan built in it by OPS from Amazon. The bulb was superb but my RD did not like it in the sense of when you touch the brakes the light flashes, same with the indicators, the bulb flashes as it so little current. I would have to change all the indicators and brake lights and possibly the clocks as well.
Didn't bother and used it on another bike.

Not sure where you got the price of $100 for the headlight bulb, unless the exchange rate has massively changed. The brightest he does is this: H4LED5K Price £37.95. Beam pattern is excellent, I did a back to back test on the garage door. But I'll let you know if it passes an MOT as it's going on Friday.

Choose a fanless one. Smaller and less amperes. Left one in the picture works for 3 years now. Cost less 5€ from china. O and btw if your horn stops working your battery is bad.

Hi Marrcel, good that you found a cheap one that works, I presume it gives both main and dip beam ok if you are happy with it? I think that the type with the large external heatsink will probably not fit an F2. I did wonder about the battery but it holds charge OK and voltage when charged looks good. Horn works fine if headlight is disconnected or when I fitted an LED bulb.

Have been thinking of trying one of these - but still need to check the measurements. Classic Car LEDs - H4

Thanks for the link, have you had to take the vehicle for an MOT yet, any issues?

Slightly off-topic. Does anyone remember dayriders? They were a little light that went on top or under your main headlight and if memory serves me correct, a 10w bulb. I never got one as I, and still do, ride with a dipped beam. Ive just Googled it and it appears to be a coach service

Yes passed MOT no problem You have been lucky then, the rules have recently changed, MOT testers have been told to fail the vehicle if it didn't have an LED fitted from new basically.
