Had this for around a year now. Got it off a mate who hadn't used it much for the last 20 years so it ran really rough. Not had a full strip and rebuild as it didn’t really need one. Carbs fully stripped and ultra sonic cleaned, new internals so now it starts on the button (it used to take 15 minutes !!) Rear suspension stripped, cleaned and greased (all bearings perfect) Front end: anti-dive blanked off, Wilbers springs and 150mm air gap with 15wt oil. Seat upholstered to give me some extra leg room. Stick coils from a ZX6R plus a myriad of other jobs. Runs really well and have done over 2500 miles since July this year. Fantastic on the motorway, rock steady - feels like you are doing 60 when you're doing much more...…... Since the photos I have also fitted Yamaha silver spot calipers.

I always remember when I was an 18 year old streak of piss and had gone up the local bike mechanics on my RD125LC
Ken the mechanic asked me to move the GPZ900 for him and it was on the centre stand
Fookin hell that was heavy

I spun my eccentric adjusters round so at least you don't pop a disc heaving it onto its stand. The weight feels worse because the bars are so low and the bike so long.

Remember back when about 18-19 mate bought one of these brand new possibly on a b-plate and straight away on went a powerbronze twin head light top fairing, flushed in the indicators on the rear seat cowling looked real mean then as soon as the original gsxr1100 slabside came out he traded the 900r in for one of them in white and blue

Lovely looking bike Bill, as you know I have one and love it as well. The only thing I don't like with my bike is a the speed limit in top gear the handle bars vibrate and cause numbness.

& to this day a lovely looking bike! I find that a funny remark. I like The look, it kind off reminds me of Darth Vader. All my mates find it ugly.

This is really smooth at any speed. We went to look at a bike a couple of weeks back, a 200 mile round trip, so went on the GPz’s as they are so good on the motorway. My MT10 stayed in the garage! When I bought it, the front tyre was older than me..... it tank slapped if I let go of the bars. I fitted a pair of Avon roadriders and it’s perfect now.

Ok so the vibes must be in my bike only. It does have original steel weights on the bar ends. It's only at a certain rpm above or below it's also smooth.

Is it a 16” front wheel like mine? I've used quite a few tyres on it all balanced. It's from 92 so it has the 17inch front rim.

My mate has an A8 with the 17” wheel and bigger forks. It rides nicer than mine to be honest. I never noticed any vibration when I rode it but I will ask him and check.

This has been off the road but we were out last Saturday. I can confirm absolutely no vibrations - its actually like riding a modern bike on the motorway. These 900R's belie their age once youre moving
