Following a suggestion from Tim, though we’d see how the demographic sits and who had/has what and when. for the purposes of a simple outcome this poll is for 250/350 LC OR YPVS

Several 250’s and a 350 from 1987, subsequently continued to own an rd pretty much most of the time since or a Yamaha stroker. 👍

I only owned one in the 80's - my first 4L0 but sold it. Needs must in those days. I then got the bug again, and have owned another 12 LC's in varying guises since 2013. Most have gone through some form of rebuild and have been moved on, but still have 2 and a half in my garage at the moment.

Oh no, which box do I tick
I owned an lc2 in the eighties and yes it is in my garage now ( well, an incarnation of it )
Pity between the 90's and 2009 I didn't actually own it 😬

I'd say that the majority vote will be 'had an LC back in the 80's but sold it',..that's what all my mates did, working our way up to larger/more powerful machines.

Ahh... no option for "I had an LC in the 90’s but sold it" Yes, on purpose really...to put a fire break and create distinct ‘back then’ and ‘recently’ .. but I could add a fourth option....’my name is jon’ 😂

I could argue that the 90's was 'back then', its closer to the 80s than now and you could still buy a new RD, which is what I did lol. Don’t we also need a nope I’m not a boring old git box? Seems a few on here are magically not 50 plus! Haha, that will be a small amount of votes, so little new blood, but at least there are some young uns who understand. Long may that continue!

On a more serious note, if you folks thinks it’s worthy to amend the questions a little to provide a more interesting and or informative outcome then let’s do it.

I've got a youngster visiting on Thursday he owns a YPVS. It's a mate of Kees, he was hooked a couple of years ago when Kees let him ride his bike.

On a more serious note, if you folks thinks it’s worthy to amend the questions a little to provide a more interesting and or informative outcome then let’s do it. I think if it was in decades then it would give info about when people first bought an RD/RZ, but most of those who got one in the 90s only didnt get em in the 80s as they were too young and skint. I first rode one in 1985, it wasnt til a decade later than i could afford to buy one, thats the cost of 'further education' I guess, not just the debt but the lack of any funds for toys. That didnt stop me from oggling them in bike shop windows and reading the ads in the papers and autotrader every week... a lad could dream lol.

Bought a new white/red LC2 in 1983 when they first came out, sold it to buy my first car!😩
Bought my current '84 LC2 in 1990 and my '85 RZ350 in 2001.
Won't make the same mistake of selling these babies!!!😁

Had a 250LC. Bought it for £475, it came with speed block paint by Dream Machine. 3 months later it was traded in for a CBX750! Also had a 350 YPVS, MK1 - white/blue/red. bought it for £850. Bike was spotless and came with Allspeeds. Sold it a year later for a GSXR750.

So looks like not a big percentage (that are voting) didn’t own one in the 80’s. Well I have to admit I’m one. So how did I become an owner. I remember well when they were released in Australia in 81. I liked them and was looking for a road bike to replace the trail bike I was riding at the time. My 50’s are a memory so I’m older than a lot on here. I had a Suzuki GT250 and 380 in the 70’s so well acquainted with 2 strokes. However my mates had 4 strokes and I followed and ended up with the 79 Suzuki GS 750 second hand)for less than a new LC. In late 81 a motorcycle dealer in the area was renting bikes and when a mate was on holidays we rented an almost new LC a couple of times. Obviously ridden like it was stolen. It was great fun as it is today but I had moved on from what were regarded here as small bikes. In 82 I bought the GPZ1100 new. Then in about 87 I went back to 2 strokes and bought a second hand RG500. Wind forward till 2016 and a chance sighting of an LC and I was back in 1981. After 12 months looking around I bought one and don’t regret it. The LC is fun, a classic and almost affordable when I bought it. I have no desire to own another RG but I would have a GPZ, however it would have to be a B2 and they are much rarer than LC’s.

Took my test on a friends CB125 twin as I had a Mars 350lc in the garage and didn’t fancy a sidewinder.... that bike cost me £500 and oh how I wish I kept it. Another couple of 250lc’s and an F2 saw me through the 80’s.. prior to LC’ s were SS50’s, fantic’ gt50 Kx250, kh125, gt185 (I think)..
Apart from a tdr250 rebuild in 2002 ish, LC wise today I have a mint Standard 350lc, another mint 350 to 400 project that’s nearly done and a lovely RD500lc (my second as had one a few years back too)
